Police report: Barking and loose dogs keep officers hopping

The Lovell Police Department received the following calls for the week of November 25-30, including 11 calls about barking or runaway dogs:

November 25: 11:57 a.m. – An adult female came to the police department to report that someone was using her identification and social security number after she received a call from a collections agency regarding a credit report on a bill that she did not owe. She wished to file a police report as part of the process to get the bill removed from the report.

3:41 p.m. – A woman reported that her grandson had punched her in the stomach and kicked her at a residence on Washakie Avenue. An officer spoke to the juvenile about his behavior and informed the young man about the group home where he could end up. He agreed to talk to a counselor.

5:07 p.m. – A black puppy with a green collar was reported missing on East Second Street. The owner soon located the pup.

November 26: 9:07 a.m. – Information was provided regarding a missing male black mouth cur dog that had run away from a residence on Lane 5.

5:56 p.m. – A caller reported a black husky with white socks in the caller’s yard on West Main. The dog returned home.

6:06 p.m. – A woman who had previously filed a criminal trespass order against an adult male wished to have the order removed.

November 27: 5:11 a.m. – A caller on Idaho Avenue reported that dogs in the neighborhood had been barking for the last 30 minutes. An officer responded to the area of the complaint and listened for a while but did not hear any dogs barking.

10:13 a.m. – A dog owner reported that the family pet had gotten out on Oregon Avenue.

7:11 p.m. – An officer assisted a Big Horn County Sheriff’s deputy with a domestic call on Highway 32.

9:21 p.m. – A caller reported that a male husky was missing its person. Dispatch called the owner based on a dog tag the husky was wearing, and the owner picked up the dog.

November 28: 1:31 p.m. – A grey and white five-week-old puppy was reported lost on Nevada Avenue, but the owner soon called back and said the pup had been found.

3:25 p.m. – A caller reported a large black dog with no tags approaching small children. The reporting party soon called back and said the dog’s owner had retrieved the dog and had taken it home before an officer arrived.

5:38 p.m. – A caller reported that a pit bull had gotten loose on Oregon Avenue. An officer responded but was unable to locate the animal.

8:21 p.m. – An officer noticed a Ford Expedition with its door open at Family Dollar. The officer shut the door.

9:25 p.m. – A caller reported an intoxicated female at his door “knocking on the door and falling over” on Nevada Avenue. An officer arrived and took the female to her home.

10:31 p.m. – The same intoxicated female was reported banging on the caller’s window and trying to get into a home on Big Horn Avenue. Police arrested San Juanita Montanez Stanley for breach of peace.

November 29: 9:49 a.m. – An officer responded to Idaho Avenue to a report of four dogs barking outside with the owner not at home. An attempt to reach the owner by phone was unsuccessful. A second complaint about the noisy dogs was called in at 5:35 p.m. Again, the owner was not home and could not be reached by phone. The dispatcher left a voicemail message, and the owner called later to say he had been out of town.

November 30: 11:18 p.m. – A caller reported trying to check into a room at the Travelodge in Lovell, saying they had a reservation, but there was no staff present. A manager was contacted and agreed to respond to the motel.

Note: The above calls were received by the Lovell Police Department. Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and charges made upon initial arrest may be amended or dismissed as determined by the County Attorney.
