Police Report: Bull snake gets escorted out of town

The Lovell Police Department received the following calls for the week of June 24-30:

June 24: Officers responded to a report of an altercation between a mother and daughter. When they arrived, they discovered the daughter had left the premises following a verbal argument.

A malnourished dog was reportedly eating trash. An investigation found that the dog, which had just had several puppies, was extremely underweight. The owner agreed to take the dog to a local veterinarian for evaluation.

June 25: A grandmother reported that she and her daughter were harassed by a loose pitbull type dog. A citation was issued to the dog’s owner for dog at large.

June 26: After being gone for three days, a resident reported items missing from her father’s apartment. The matter is under investigation.

A third party reported a break-in at a nearby residence. The matter is under investigation.

June 27: A report of vandalism and the theft of parts from a four-wheeler is under investigation.

A plastic bag found containing three pills turned out to be over-the-counter anti-inflammatory medication ibuprofen. 

June 28: Officers assisted at a controlled burn that got out of control in a field near Lovell Middle School.

Jacob Patrick Ely of Powell was arrested on a warrant involving felony stalking and violation of a protection order. He was transported by Park County police officers to Park County.

June 30: Officers investigated suspicious activity involving a vehicle with a door left open. It turned out it was left open by mistake.

A long snake seen crossing Shoshone Avenue turned out to be a non-venomous bull snake. The snake was taken outside of town and released in the country.

Note: The above calls were received by the Lovell Police Dept. Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and charges made upon initial arrest may be amended or dismissed as determined by the County Attorney.
