Police report: Cookie-spinning driver arrested for DUI
The Lovell Police Department received the following calls for the week of March 9-15:
March 9: 8:08 p.m. – An officer checked on the scene of a red Dodge truck with Montana plates parked in front of a residence on East Third. The officer found that a wheel had broken off the axle, and the homeowner at the site called to let police know they were OK with the vehicle being there. The owner soon had the vehicle towed.
March 10: 7:41 p.m. – A caller from Good 2 Go reported a possibly intoxicated driver of a gold Chevy spinning cookies in the parking lot. The car drove into town and was observed speeding. An officer initiated a traffic stop and arrested Matthew Benjamen Brendle, 23, of Lovell for DUI.
March 11: 10:32 a.m. – A caller reported that she had received a scam call stating that she owed money for a ticket and that her driver’s license would be revoked if she didn’t pay a bond. She knew the call was a scam but wanted to report it.
3:44 p.m. – A caller reported kids riding in the bucket of a Bobcat loader on Shoshone Avenue. An officer responded but was unable to locate the Bobcat.
March 12: 9:33 p.m. – An employee at Family Dollar reported that a person who had a criminal trespass order on them for the store was in the store and had been asked to leave but refused. The person was gone when an officer arrived, but the officer reviewed in-store video and later issued a citation for trespassing.
March 14: 10:58 a.m. – An officer assisted at a business west of Lovell where a man was arrested by deputies on a Park County warrant.
March 15: 3:29 p.m. – A caller requested help getting a dog out of a hole on Shoshone Avenue.
Editor’s note: A woman noted in last week’s police report asserted this week that she did not report that she believed a bartender at a local establishment had drugged her drink. She said she only stated that “something had happened” with her drink in that she immediately became sick. She said she did not accuse the bartender directly.
Note: The above calls were received by the Lovell Police Department. Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and charges made upon initial arrest may be amended or dismissed as determined by the County Attorney.
