Police report: Counterfeit $100 bill likely movie money

The Lovell Police Department received the following calls for the week of December 1-7:

December 1: 8:56 a.m. – The Bank of Lovell reported that a counterfeit $100 was accepted for pay at a local convenience store. The bill had “prop” and “fake money” stamped on it but was taken by a store clerk.

December 2: 8:41 a.m. – An officer successfully unlocked a silver Nissan truck on Park Avenue.

2:05 p.m. – A woman brought in evidence of someone talking about her on social media in an alleged case of harassment.

2:41 p.m. – The Powell Police Department reported that someone had stolen a credit card and used the card to purchase and ship packages to the Western Motel in Lovell, asking Lovell’s assistance if the packages show up.

2:51 p.m. – A caller complained of speeders on McKinley Avenue. A spokesman said the issue is problematic because the eastern lane of travel is actually in the county and is the likely speeding lane because it’s on a downhill grade.

December 3: 7:19 a.m. – A caller requested a welfare check on a man on Oregon Avenue who had not picked up his mail but was known for doing so in a timely manner. It was discovered that he was in a Billings hospital.

8:48 a.m. – An officer successfully unlocked a white Silverado plumbing company truck parked at Maverik.

10:43 a.m. – The owner of a German shorthair pointer informed dispatch that the dog was still missing after it wandered away on Thanksgiving on the Yellowtail Wildlife Management Area. The dog’s name is Gunner and is chipped.

3:36 p.m. – An officer successfully executed a vehicle unlock on a white Ford Fusion parked in the Lovell High School parking lot.

December 5: 9:31 a.m. – A caller reported a man “losing his mind” at the Lovell Post Office. No other information was available.

2:49 p.m. – A caller reported a baby in a stroller and a toddler in a pink coat left unattended at Kansas and Washakie. The mother was just across the street checking out modifications to the former Welch Dental building.

7:19 p.m. – A caller reported that an older man was banging on the door, yelling, screaming and cussing at a residence in Bair’s Trailer Court. The RPs daughter had been sleeping inside and felt threatened. An officer responded and could not find the man, but extra patrol was initiated.

December 6: 10:57 p.m. – A customer at the 4 Corners Bar reported that he was confronted by a fellow customer who didn’t believe he was of legal age to drink at a bar. When he returned to the counter, he reported his wallet missing. The wallet was found later at the bar.

December 7: 11:28 a.m. – A caller reported that a purple semi-truck almost hit the RP on east Main and other vehicles were “swerving all over.” The call was referred to the county, because the truck had left the town limits.

Note: The above calls were received by the Lovell Police Department. Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and charges made upon initial arrest may be amended or dismissed as determined by the County Attorney.
