Police report: Driver checking on a dog suffers a bite

The Lovell Police Department received the following calls for the week of August 5-11:

August 5: Police responded to a dog bite that occurred on Washakie Avenue. A man reported he almost hit a dog running in the street, and when he got out to check on the dog’s well-being, the dog bit him and drew blood. The man is not pressing charges and just wanted the dog to get home safely and not run the streets unattended in the future in case he bites someone else. 

Police are investigating a theft that occurred on Washington Avenue. A man reported he left town for two weeks, and when he returned, tools had been stolen from his place.

August 6: Police were notified of a missing 14-year-old female runaway. Her father reported she was missing, but police were able to locate her at her aunt’s house. She is safe and unharmed.

August 8: Police are investigating a theft that occurred at Maverik Country Store on West Main Street. A man came into the store and stole a bottle of liquor, and when confronted by the store clerk, he tried to leave. Police made contact, and the man came back and paid the store for the liquor.

August 11: Police responded to a report of a domestic dispute on Oregon Avenue in which a man allegedly assaulted several family members. Justin Lee Perez, 28, was arrested on charges related to the incident.
