Police report: Hit-and-run truck driver tracked down
The Lovell Police Department received the following calls for the week of December 2-6:
December 3: 11:46 a.m. – A hit and run incident was reported at Haskell Funeral Home on East Main. A truck driver managed to tear down a power line, then drove off without calling in the incident, reportedly saying he was falling behind on his schedule. He was able to be contacted due to a security video system at the Travelodge. The driver was found and provided contact information for the trucking company’s office so that an insurance claim could be filed to pay for repairing the power line.
4:11 p.m. – Two brothers filed criminal trespass orders against their sister.
December 5: 11:21 a.m. – A man reported that he saw a kid with an electric scooter riding by and checking car doors. A responding officer was unable to locate the individual, and the reporting party said “the kid took off.”
7:04 p.m. – A report was called in of “dogs barking non-stop on Oregon Avenue.” The owner was out of town and when contacted said the dogs’ bark collar must have run down. He said he would make sure the collars were charged up.
7:21 p.m. – A woman who checked into the Travelodge after a domestic incident reported that her husband was harassing her outside the hotel. An officer responded within two minutes of the call but saw no sign of the man.
7:49 p.m. – A caller reported that the family’s blowup turtle Christmas decoration had been stolen on Shoshone Avenue and wanted to report the theft in case such items were disappearing all over town.
December 6: - 10 a.m. – A man reported receiving an email demanding $2,000, and the message had the reporting party’s address. He said he installed McAfee software to remove all of his public information, but it would take up to 35 days. But he said he lives in a rural area near Cowley and was not worried about a “visitor” because he owns 11 dogs.
10:59 a.m. – A seven-month-old black and white female bernedoodle with no collar and in heat was reported missing from an Image Drive residence but was soon located.
12:48 p.m. – A caller reported a pit bull was running loose on Oregon Avenue. An officer was unable to locate the animal, but it had returned home by later in the afternoon.
4:08 p.m. – A citizen requested help replacing a burned out light bulb in her kitchen, saying she had a ladder in place but asked for an officer to climb up and change the bulb. An officer responded and changed out two lightbulbs.
Note: The above calls were received by the Lovell Police Department. Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and charges made upon initial arrest may be amended or dismissed as determined by the County Attorney.
