Police report: Home that recently burned emitting unwanted odors
The Lovell Police Department received the following calls for the week of September 7-13:
September 7: 2:54 p.m. – An officer responded to assist the sheriff’s office for a call about a black bear sighting just east of Lovell.
September 8: 11:15 a.m. – A caller complained about odors coming from a house on Shoshone Avenue that had burned a few weeks ago, saying they couldn’t open windows or run the air conditioner. The issue was referred to the town building inspector.
12:10 p.m. – An officer backed up a deputy at the scene of a traffic stop of a driver who reportedly smelled of drugs, according to an employee at the port of entry in Frannie.
1:03 p.m. – A caller complained that her neighbor’s trees were dripping sap onto her property.
1:20 p.m. – Reacting to a call that a cattle hauler coming from Good2Go was speeding through town, officers found that the truck had already left the town limits, so the call was passed on to the sheriff’s office.
9:01 p.m. – A friend asked for a welfare check on an elderly female living on Oregon Avenue. An officer checked on the woman, and she was fine.
9:44 p.m.—A caller from Rose City West reported hearing a loud bang at her apartment, then reported to a responding officer that a grab bar in her restroom had fallen off and had awakened her.
September 9: 6:33 p.m. – A report of a black bear in a yard on Road 12 just east of Lovell was referred to the sheriff’s office and Game and Fish.
September 10: 10:14 a.m. – Officers are investigating complaints of a car parked at the Lovell LDS Church for several weeks and had been moved onto the street. An officer is attempting to contact the owner.
September 11: 6:30 a.m. – A caller reported witnessing a hit and run incident where a car reportedly struck a goose neck trailer on Montana Avenue. An officer responded, spoke to the reporting party and checked on the trailer, finding no damage.
9:06 a.m. – A caller reported that a dog on Nevada Avenue is tied up all day, and when the dog’s tether gets tangled, it barks all day. The caller didn’t want to get the dog owner in trouble, just make him aware of the situation. An officer was able to reach the owner.
5 p.m. – A caller reported a power line lying on the ground in an alley behind Nevada Avenue. The fire department responded and found that the line was a phone line or TV cable but not a power line.
September 12: 1:20 a.m. – A caller reported a Subaru “speeding up and down Shoshone (Avenue) all the time.” An officer made contact with the reporting party, who had video of the car. An officer initiated extra patrol on the street.
7:48 a.m. – A caller reported seeing smoke on the Pryor Mountains, but while on the phone she noted that the smoke may actually be a cloud.
1:11 p.m. – A caller who had earlier reported the speeding Subaru called to report that the Subaru had been revving his engine outside the caller’s home early that morning.
September 13: 12:25 a.m. – A call to assist a Greybull officer with a large fight that had developed in Greybull was cancelled when deputies were able to respond and assist.
Lovell police responded to 10 dog and two cat calls during the week.
