Police report: Homeowner on Circle Drive suspicious of possible criminal entry

The Lovell Police Department received the following calls for the week of September 29-October 5:

September 29: 3:05 a.m. – A caller on East 6th Street complained that a neighbor was playing loud music at 3 in the morning. An officer was on another call and upon arriving at the scene found the reported offending home dark and quiet. However, the reporting neighbor wished to follow up with a complaint.

September 30: 11:46 a.m. – A caller reported finding a small brown and tan dog at Bair’s trailer court. About 45 minutes later the dog owner came to the police station to report a missing dog and was given contact information for the person who found the dog.

12:23 p.m. – A caller on Oregon Avenue called to report a missing dog, and another caller said the dog was in their backyard. An officer picked up the dog and met the owner at the police station. The dog owner was given a verbal warning for dog at large.

October 1: 2:09 p.m. – A caller said he couldn’t reach his brother at the Rose City West Apartments and was concerned for his welfare. A manager let an officer in the apartment, and no one was home. The resident showed up later.

October 2: 8:10 a.m. – A caller reported a possible break-in or criminal entry at a home on Circle Drive. Upon returning home, the resident reported that it appeared someone had gone through the house looking for something. The case is under investigation.

9:57 a.m. – A caller reported a dog on Idaho Avenue with no food or water. An officer checked on the dog, which appeared to be healthy. The owner was contacted and advised that, as the day was warming up, water should be provided to the dog, which a family member agreed to do.

10:26 a.m. – An employee of the Burlington Northern – Santa Fe Railroad called to report that a signal light at the tracks on Shoshone Avenue had been hit, but someone was on the way to make repairs.

4:34 p.m. – A caller reported that an Amazon package may have been stolen out of his vehicle in the alley behind Queen Bee and other businesses in the 200 block of East Main, but he later called back and said he had found the package at home.

October 3: 7:33 p.m. – A cat was found at The Market in Lovell and was turned over to the animal control officer.

8:21 p.m. – A caller reported that, when he returned home on Circle Drive, the same home that may have been broken into the day before, he noticed someone running from his house and followed the individual to see who it was. An officer spoke with the caller and a neighbor who had an outside camera, which recorded a person wearing similar clothing as the running person. An officer made contact with the suspected runner, who said he had multiple witnesses that he had just then arrived at home. The case remains under investigation.

11:26 p.m. – A man flagged down an officer at the Western Motel to report that his car had been struck by a tomato while driving through Cowley. He was advised to contact the Sheriff’s Office.

October 5: 9:02 p.m. – A caller reported a dispute between two females at the Maverik Country Store in which a verbal altercation became physical and involved slapping. One party then left the business, and an officer will review store video. The case is under investigation.

The LPD performed 12 traffic stops throughout the week.

Note: The above calls were received by the Lovell Police Department. Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and charges made upon initial arrest may be amended or dismissed as determined by the County Attorney.
