Police Report: Local kids recognized for safe behavior

The Lovell Police Department received the following calls for the week of March 18-24:
March 18: Police conducted routine walk-throughs at local bars.
An officer assisted a woman who was having trouble dealing with her own dog.
Three local youth (Hayden Workman, Brooks Brost and Gage Bair) were awarded commemorative wooden nickels for wearing helmets while recreating at the Lovell Skate Park. The police department periodically awards the nickels to children who exhibit good citizenship or safe behavior.
Officers received a report of two loose dogs on the baseball field near the free camper park but were unable to locate the dogs, who apparently bit another dog on the nose.
March 19: Police investigated an instance of bullying where a child found a rock on his front porch that had been inscribed with menacing words.
March 20: Officers received a report from an individual who thought someone may have entered his home while he was out of town.
A resident reported receiving a telephone call that was most likely a scam. The caller asked for credit card information to apply a rebate connected with the reporting party’s electrical service. The caller hung up when the resident informed him that he did not use credit cards.
Officers are investigating a report received from a woman who said her boyfriend threatened her and put his hands around her neck.
March 22: Officers were asked to perform a welfare check on an elderly man.
March 23: A resident reported a large dog in her backyard.
A report of suspicious behavior by a person patronizing a local bar was investigated. The individual was no longer at the bar when officers arrived.
Officers investigated a report that someone was trying to kick down a back door at a local business around closing time. When police arrived, the individual had already left the scene.
March 24: Officers received a report regarding an individual who had paid for a vehicle with a bad check. They performed a civil standby while the vehicle was repossessed.
Note: The above calls were received by the Lovell Police Dept. Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and charges made upon initial arrest may be amended or dismissed as determined by the County Attorney.
