Police report: Man arrested after reporting assault

The Lovell Police Department received the following calls for the week of November 4-10:

November 4: 7:24 p.m. – A caller reported a Dodge Charger “speeding around town.” An officer was unable to locate the vehicle.

November 5: 6:40 p.m. – A caller reported barking dogs on Idaho Avenue, calling the dogs an ongoing problem. An officer sat in his car nearby, and when the dogs started up again, he made contact with the owner, who said she had just let them out and they barked at someone walking down the alley. Police will monitor the situation.

November 6: 7:13 p.m. – An officer checked out a truck with a water tank in the back on Shoshone Avenue after someone said the tank was leaking and it smelled strongly of gasoline. An officer responded and could detect no odor of fuel.

November 7: 9:58 a.m. – A man came into the hospital claiming he had been assaulted in Mexico, and he wanted to be checked out. Police discovered that he had an outstanding warrant on him out of Park County. Israel Esteban Silva was arrested for probation violation.

November 8: 10:21 p.m. – Police responded to an incident where an individual went to the 4 Corners Bar to pick up a friend, but the friend wasn’t there. With the friend’s baby in the car, the driver thought a fight was about to break out since there were a lot of people standing outside the bar. Hoping to leave the site, the driver scraped a pole in the drive-up lane, then panicked and backed into a vehicle. The driver then fled on foot to protect the baby. No citations were issued because the car accident took place on private property and the officer could understand why the individual left the scene.

November 10: 9:35 a.m. – A caller said he dropped his child at his mother’s house, but when he returned he found that the child’s biological mother had come by and taken the child with her. Worried about where the child might be taken, the man filled out a report, but the case is a civil matter, police determined.

10:59 p.m. – A man on Big Horn Avenue reported that his motion-activated lights keep turning on, and he was worried someone was attempting to steal from him. An officer responded, saw cats walking by and determined they might have been what set off the motion lights.
