Police report: Man arrested for brandishing a firearm
The Lovell Police Department received the following calls for the week of March 23-29:
March 23: 11:13 a.m. – A caller reported a small white dog loose on Jersey Avenue. The dog was taken to the animal control shelter and later retrieved by its owner.
9:38 p.m. – The owner of a black dog running loose on Nevada Avenue in an ongoing issue was cited for dog at large.
March 25: 2:45 p.m. – An officer responded to a REDDI report regarding an old Chevy pickup on West Third Street. After making contact with the driver, police found the driver not to be intoxicated.
March 26: 9:02 a.m. – A report of a swamp cooler stolen from a residence in Bair’s Trailer Court is under investigation after the reporting party provided a statement.
6:23 p.m. – Children called 911 to report that a German shepherd was chasing kids at the Lovell Apartments on Montana Avenue. The dog was later found on Main Street and taken to the animal control shelter. The owner retrieved the dog later.
6:25 p.m. – An officer responded to a report of a break-in attempt on East Third Street. A juvenile entered a garage, allegedly to steal a bicycle, but the bike owner was present. The youth was later discovered operating an electric bike. In a meeting with the officer and parents, the youth was informed of the possible penalties for trespassing and also educated on the new scooter ordinance now in effect.
March 27: 4:54 p.m. – Officers assisted the Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office with the arrest of Tuffy Lee Towner Brost, 29 (See sheriff’s report).
March 28: 1:11 a.m. – Investigating a 911 hangup, officers were informed that an adult male was allegedly pointing a firearm at other people in a home on Jersey Avenue. The parties said they had the situation under control, but police arrested Kevin James Benner for reckless endangerment and aggravated assault.
6:34 p.m. – An investigation of a reported stolen key to a storage unit in Powell turned out to be the reporting party’s daughter using the key.
11:30 p.m. – Police issued a warning to people who ignited a large bonfire in a backyard on East Sixth Street.
March 29: 1:38 p.m. – A citizen flagged down an officer to discuss a traffic complaint.
5:55 p.m. – A caller reported that a Corgi running at large was nearly hit in front of the hospital.
7:01 p.m. – An officer picked up a loose golden doodle dog at North Big Horn Hospital and took the pet to the police station, where the owner, after seeing the found dog on Facebook, went to the LPD to claim the animal.
Note: The above calls were received by the Lovell Police Department. Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and charges made upon initial arrest may be amended or dismissed as determined by the County Attorney.
