February 17: 2:01 p.m. and 6:11 p.m. – Police were called to a domestic dispute on Park Avenue with a woman sitting in her car and her husband in the house and drinking. There were no known weapons on hand. An officer spoke to the two individuals.
February 18: 1:31 p.m. – A woman reported a scam after speaking to a man from Pakistan named Ali, who claimed that her earlier refusal to deal with him “got him fired” from his call center job. He was harassing her at her workplace and tried to obtain $5,000 from her PayPal account but was unsuccessful.
1:54 p.m. – A caller reported that his car was stuck in the snow on Oregon Avenue, but he was making arrangements for the car to be towed free.
February 19: 1:01 a.m. – A caller from Rose City West reported hearing a gunshot. An officer responded and searched the area on foot and in a patrol vehicle. Nothing was found.
5:10 p.m. – Two teenagers wearing jeans and hoodies were reported “playing in the road and causing traffic to go around them” on Sixth Street west of Nevada Avenue. An officer responded and could not find the youths.
7:19 p.m. – A woman called to report that her husband was hitting their truck with a hammer in a domestic dispute. An officer and deputy responded and determined that the dispute was verbal in nature, and the two parties agreed to not press charges and work things out.
February 20: 11:56 a.m. – A caller on Circle Drive reported that someone had tried to scam the caller’s PayPal account but was unsuccessful. No money was transferred, and the caller just wanted to give police a heads-up.
11:58 a.m. – A female caller reported that her boyfriend had “slapped her glasses off her face” and broke them in the parking lot of the 4 Corners and also slammed her head into a vehicle three times, then drove off. An officer responded, and the caller did not wish to press charges, but a report was taken.
2:48 p.m. – An officer and a deputy joined forces to push a stuck vehicle free from a snowbank on East Sixth Street near Armory Park.
3:52 p.m. – A female at Bair’s Trailer Court on West Second reported that a male would not leave her property after a dispute over a $5 debt. He was trying to free his stuck vehicle with small boards, and an officer helped him free his car and leave the scene.
February 21: 12:21 a.m. – A caller from the Shoshone Bar reported that there was “possibly going to be a big fight” at the establishment, with a man trying to instigate something with others at the bar. Bar patrons assisted him in leaving the bar and locked the front door. When an officer responded, the man had left the scene.
1:07 p.m. – A pickup slid into a parked mini-van on Jersey Avenue. The juvenile driver got caught by thick snow and pulled sideways into the other vehicle. No citations were issued.
February 22: 9:36 a.m. – A caller reported a hit-and-run with significant damage to the caller’s black Toyota Camry on Park Avenue. The case is under investigation.
February 23: 7:34 p.m. – A male reported that he was caught up in a scam on social media in which he was talking to a female on social media and was told that, while he thought she was an adult, a reported “agent” said she was 16, and during a mother-daughter dispute a door was broken. The “agent” demanded $900 to help fix the door. Text messages were also sent. The caller was told to block the caller and given instructions to report the incident to the FBI.
9:43 p.m. – A woman called to report that when she arrived at her home on East Third Street the front door was open, and once home, she reported hearing a series of loud thumps and banging including one so loud that she ran outside and called 911. An officer arrived and cleared the residence, finding no one. The noises could have been snow falling off the roof of the home.
