Police report: Tire slasher remains at large

The Lovell Police Department received the following calls for the week of June 16-22:

June 16: 5:41 p.m. – There was a request to perform a welfare check on a dog on Idaho Avenue that appeared to be underweight. The officer confirmed it was just a lanky puppy that the owner says she brings inside every 1.5 hours and it has food and water; the puppy just knocks over his bowl. The concern was unfounded.

9:49 p.m. – A caller came in reporting that a white Dodge vehicle ran into a parked, unattended Ford on Jersey Avenue before driving off. The officer observed video footage and contacted the owner of the vehicle and issued a citation for failure of duty upon colliding with an unattended vehicle.

June 17: 2:25 p.m. – Officers delivered ordinance information to a local bar about underage individuals being in the bar with their parents. The local bars do not meet requirements to allow for juveniles to be inside.

3:17 p.m. – An individual called to report that they had received a letter in the mail with a debit card inside. She called the company, and they told her to use the card but would not give her any information about the company. It was determined to be a scam.

10:16 p.m. – An anonymous report came in about loud music being played in the Bair Trailer Court. The officer contacted the individuals, and they turned down the music.

June 18: 7:19 p.m. – There was a report that a group of juveniles were climbing on the roof of the bathrooms at Great Western Park during a softball game. The officer arrived and told the kids that they were not allowed to climb on top of the bathroom and they got down.

June 19: 12:00 p.m. – A neighbor called to report that a dog on Idaho Avenue was continuously barking. The officer contacted the owner of the residence, and she said that the dogs will be gone in a couple of weeks and that they were her grandson’s dogs. The officer asked her to keep the dogs in the house if they were barking or a citation would be issued.

5:49 p.m. – Officers contacted an individual regarding a criminal trespassing order. The order stated an incorrect apartment number on Nevada Avenue, and the individual was notified of the correction.

June 20: 8:11 p.m. – The police department received multiple calls involving loud motorcycles and dirt bikes driving fast and popping wheelies around Shoshone Avenue and Eighth Street. Officers were unable to locate any motorcycles or dirt bikes.

June 21: 10:55 a.m. – A call came in reporting that there was an elderly woman on East Third Street that appeared to be having a hard time walking. The officer spoke to the woman who said she had suffered a stroke nearly 30 years ago but had made the decision to stay active and did not need assistance.

11:51 a.m. – Another call was made to the police station about the elderly woman who appeared to be lost and struggling to walk on Third Street. The officer stopped and talked with the lady again and walked with her and assisted her getting into her home.

12:16 p.m. – An individual came into the police department regarding harassment he was receiving from the owner of a dog that had bitten his son recently that resulted in the euthanizing of the animal. The officer documented the information.

3:20 p.m. – A man reported that a small black dog had bitten his wife when she was unloading groceries from her vehicle. The officer arrived and saw a small scratch on the woman. They did not want to press charges on the dog’s owner, and the dog was picked up from the police station and the owners notified that proof of vaccinations must be presented within 10 days.

4:12 p.m. – Several groups of individuals were reportedly shooting fireworks at the corner of West Third Street and Kansas Avenue. The officer told the individuals that fireworks were not permitted until the Fourth of July. They did not know that it was not OK and were just celebrating Mustang Days but agreed to stop.

6:38 p.m. – A caller reported a possible domestic disturbance in a vehicle at Armory Park between a woman and man in the truck. The officer spoke with the male in the vehicle who had been working out of state, and the only female present was his daughter that appeared OK. The report was unfounded.

June 22: 8:08 p.m. – A woman called to report that two of her vehicle’s tires had been slashed at the Bair Trailer Court on Second Street. Her friend had driven by and noticed the flat tires and called to inform the owner who had not been around the vehicle for a few days. The officer also noticed that the windshield had been broken and that the tires had indeed been slashed. The women did not know who would have done that to her car, and the case is under investigation.

Note: The Lovell Police Department received nine separate calls about dogs at large at multiple locations and performed 16 traffic stops throughout the week.
