Police report: Young candy thieves caught on Ring doorbell camera

The Lovell Police Department received the following calls for the week of October 27-November 2:

October 27: 3:40 p.m. – The school resource officer reported and handled the investigation of a minor crash at Lovell High School.

October 28: 8:02 a.m. – A caller complained that a Santa countdown sign at the corner of 8th and Shoshone was too close to the corner and blocking the view of oncoming traffic. An officer asked the residents to move the sign, and they did so.

8:35 p.m. – A caller from the Maverik Country Store said his son was in a vehicle when an individual wearing a red hoodie attempted to open the vehicle’s door, which was locked. No threats were made, and no entry was gained. A Big Horn County sheriff’s deputy looked around the area and could not find the individual.

October 29: 12:09 a.m. – Following a traffic stop at West Main and Hampshire, Tuffy Brost (born in 1996) was arrested for DUI.

October 30: 5:54 p.m. – An officer assisted when a 17-year-old male juvenile went for a walk, got lost and called the police station asking for help. The dispatcher asked him to call 911 so his call phone could be pinged for an exact location, which he did, allowing an officer to assist.

7:34 p.m. – A caller on West Second Street called to report that her neighbor yelled at her and made threats because of her barking dog, which was apparently agitated by the town crew working on a sewer line at the location during the day. The neighbor was upset because he needed to get some sleep but was advised to not bother the woman and to call police if he had an issue.

October 31: 12:14 p.m. – A caller reported a person driving by her residence who was on probation and was not supposed to be near the residence on McKinley Avenue. Probation and Parole was notified.

1:58 p.m. – An 8-year-old female lost her mom, and a caller reported the situation in front of Farm Bureau Insurance during the downtown trick-or-treat event. Another mom knew the child and took her to her mother.

8:51 p.m. – A caller reported that an entire bucket of candy on the front step of their residence made available for trick-or-treaters on the honor system was taken, but the caller had video footage from the home’s Ring doorbell. The 18-year-old females seen on the camera wore distinctive costumes and were spotted in the Conoco Country Store parking lot. An officer spoke to the juveniles, who still had the bucket with them, and took them home. The bucket was returned to its rightful owner, but the candy had to be thrown away because it had changed hands.

11:47 p.m. – A Powell female visiting her new boyfriend in Lovell was bitten by his dog at his house. When she tried to greet the dog, it jumped up and bit her on the face. She was treated at the Powell Hospital, with medical personnel required to report the incident. Responding Park County deputies referred the call to the Lovell Police Department when they realized the bite took place in Lovell.

November 1: 5:37 p.m. – A REDDI report stated that a white Chevy van with “writing on the side” was driving erratically from Greybull.

Note: The above calls were received by the Lovell Police Department. Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and charges made upon initial arrest may be amended or dismissed as determined by the County Attorney.
