Police report: Young driver takes out fence at Lovell High School
The Lovell Police Department received the following calls for the week of November 10-16:
November 10: 5:27 p.m. – A teenage driver was heading home from Lovell High School when he was looking at his phone and crashed into a fence south of the football field, taking out 20 to 30 feet of fence and two poles. The driver was not injured.
November 11: 11:29 a.m. – A man came to the police department requesting to talk to an officer about his 17-year-old son.
11:59 a.m. – A caller from an office at 202 East Main notified police that he was aware of a broken window at the office.
1:22 p.m. – A caller reported a hit-and-run at J&S Custom Auto Repair on Main Street, but since there was little to no damage, he did not wish to pursue charges.
November 12: 2:50 a.m. – A caller on Park Avenue reported that the individual who had lived next door had passed away, but his cats were still around the house. The animal control officer was able to trap five cats, which are now available for adoption at the animal control shelter. The cats can be viewed on Facebook.
November 13: 2:37 a.m. – A 1999 Buick was reported stolen from the 4 Corners Bar in Lovell after the keys were left in the vehicle. The reporting party called back later to say that the car had been found. It had been taken as a prank, and she didn’t want to press charges.
November 14: 9:10 a.m. – A landlord requested a welfare check on a woman at Bair’s Trailer Court on West Second Street. An officer made contact with the woman, and she was OK.
1:33 p.m. – A caller reported that about a 10-year-old boy on a trike shot across four lanes of traffic while not paying attention and was heading south on Nevada Avenue. An officer was unable to locate the young driver.
November 15: Officers conducted 13 ordinance calls on illegally parked trailers in town covering the north side of town, issuing a courtesy notice to each that the trailer must be moved within 48 hours. By ordinance, trailers may not be parked on a city street from Labor Day to Memorial Day. All but three had been moved by Tuesday.
November 16: 4:31 p.m. – A caller on Oregon Avenue reported that a cat that was not their pet had entered their home. The young six-toed feline was taken to the animal control shelter.
Note: The above calls were received by the Lovell Police Department. Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and charges made upon initial arrest may be amended or dismissed as determined by the County Attorney.
