Pondering marijuana and fireworks

I was undecided as to what to write this week. I noticed an article in the July 4 paper about marijuana and when people, in this case, the Prairie Doctor, wrote about marijuana, it makes you wonder what they are thinking.

In 1987 when Oliver North testified before Congress and admitted that they were importing cocaine into America to be sold for guns for the Contras, that should have convinced people on who controls the drug trade. Why do you think the U.S. government eliminated many of the heads of the cartels?

Anyway, the Prairie Doc states that there isn’t enough scientific research to make a claim if marijuana is good or bad. Because marijuana isn’t readily available to them? Say what? What pills or alcohol are you taking, Doc?

To me, I just want Wyoming to collect the tax money they are missing out on instead of raising our taxes. Marijuana has always been here and always will be. Talk with the Native Americans about the different plants that they use for their different purposes, and you have your answers.

But my real purpose of writing was to thank all the people who were shooting off fireworks on the 4th of July. There were many, many beautiful displays and explosions, and to me, seeing all the fireworks reminds me not only of throwing off the British rule, but by the amount of fireworks, throwing it in our past and current government’s face that “We the People” are still here.

When they tell us “We’re from the government and we’re here to help,” as past President Ronald Reagan said, in my mind they are the scariest words ever. If you don’t believe me, then tell me how well off you are today versus $1.89 gas a few years ago.
