A public service announcement about TCT

I’m playing cards with some friends and discussion went over to all the TCT orange pipeline getting the town set up for fiber optics. I mentioned that they didn’t mark my property, and I was informed that you have to sign up for the fiber optic.

If you haven’t or didn’t know, like myself, and later down the road if you want fiber optic - say like when they discontinue what they call copper lines or land lines via the copper lines and now you have zero hookup - you will have to pay all costs for them to install it, which will not be cheap.

Apparently, there was a meeting some months ago about it. Since I pay online, when I receive the TCT bill, I don’t open it, just toss it so if they sent me a notice that way or was in the paper, I missed it and would have not known about the signup. Did you?

I am wondering how many Lovell townsfolks do not know about signing up. And yes, they’ll increase our monthly bill. Go figure. So, if they haven’t marked your property with all kinds of different color paint, you best git on over to TCT and get signed up.

How long before they discontinue the current landline setup, I don’t know, but in the interest of saving you some money, maybe a lot, if you still want TCT, time to giddy on up over to their office on Shoshone.

My other public service announcement? Many cats have disappeared, and the local coyotes have a happy tummy because the cat owners just turn their cats lose to dump in yours and my yard. Barking dogs? From past articles in the police blotter, I understand that the first time is a warning, which is followed by a $40 fine, which doubles each time - $40, $80, $160, $320. The last time I saw a $320, the person got 10 days in jail, so warn your friends about their barking dog. Come on people, have some respect for your neighbors or pay the price.

I would remind y’all about the town speed limit of 25, but that would be a waste of time. The mounds of dirt that the TCT fiber optic installers are piling up around town are not for us to do General Lee car jumps. Or so I’ve been told. I do have to say that watching a lady in her minivan with the kids not strapped down, seeing a pile of dirt and doing a Duke’s boy jump, is exciting to see as you get to watch the kids bounce around inside the van.

So far, we have missed the 2-4 feet of snow that people in Casper down through New Mexico have been receiving. We are way overdue and remain in a drought, but hopefully, the mountains will get tons and tons of that white stuff. Keep your powder dry and the wheels of your car on the ground.

If you know someone who is in need of food or heat, let Lovell PD know and they can direct you/them to the proper places to get help. I’ve been told the PD has been doing a good job of helping people. Good Job! Maybe a listing in the paper of all the places people can go for help would be cool beans. Stay warm and safe.
