Randall M. Tew

Oct. 10, 1953 – Nov. 14, 2015

Imagine the happy reunion as Randy “marched to the beat of his own drums” through heaven’s gate.  Born on Oct. 10, 1953, Randy Tew was greeted by loving parents, Don Calvert and Shirley Ruth Mangus Tew, in Lovell. He was the eldest of eight children but was branded as the “favorite child.”Randy loved scouting and became an Eagle Scout at a very young age. He enjoyed sports and lettered in football, wrestling and track. He sang with a special choral group, the “Chamber Singers,” and entertained with his brother Rick, imitating a “Smothers Brothers” act. He was the seminary president and played the leading role in “Li’l Abner” his senior year at Snake River High School.He married Mary Alice Thatch in 1973, and later divorced.  He then married Joanna Price in 1986, and later divorced.  Randy married Patty, the love of his life and companion for the eternities, on Dec. 12, 2012. They will have to wait for their eternal sealing, but the wait will certainly be worth it.[caption id="attachment_10585" align="alignright" width="210"] Randall M. Tew[/caption]Music played a major part in Randy’s life.  He enjoyed arguing, performing with his siblings in a family band and singing in four-part harmony throughout the community.  He could tickle the ivories, playing by ear, and composed music for others to love and enjoy. He did not take a back seat to anyone when it came to playing his 27-piece drum set. Randy enjoyed playing drums for his friends in “Chantilly Lace” and also was the drummer for the rock band “Goin’ Home.”  Randy loved to draw, hunting and “going fishin’ with Tricia.”For the majority of his life, he worked as a brick and stone mason. People waited for months to have him share his professional, artistic talent in masonry.  Randy served for many years as a scout leader, his favorite LDS church calling.Randy survived an awful battle with Hodgkin’s lymphoma but suffered from the life altering effects of treatment for more than 20 years. He fought a brave fight using his motto “it could always be worse” to keep him going. His will to live was incredible. Randy died Nov. 14, 2015.  We are so relieved he is out of pain and able to move on in his progression.He is survived by his devoted, angelic wife, Patricia Ann Dunn (Tricia); father Don (Gloria) Tew; brother Richard (Jane) Tew; sisters Sylvia (Michael) Poague and Sydney Tew; children Mandy(Brent) Nielson, Joslyn Tew, Levi (Sasha) Tew, Krissa (Christopher) Corea, Kya (Adam) Range and Kara (Jordan) Frazier; stepchildren Adam (Heather) Huff, Aaron (Lavdie) Huff, Landon (Michelle) Huff, Anthony (Kelly) Huff and Harmony (Anthony) Jensen; 20 grandchildren and many aunts, uncles and cousins.He was preceded in death by his mother; two brothers, Russell and Kevin (Carrie) Tew; two sisters, Shawna and Karen; grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Nov. 21, 2015, at the Lake Shore Chapel at 5916 S. 3200 W. in Lake Shore, Utah. The viewing will be just prior to the service, from 9:30 to 10:50 a.m. Interment will be at the Benjamin Cemetery, 9000 S. 3200 West, Benjamin, Utah.
