Ray Wasson Snell

Ray Wasson Snell, 85, of Lovell passed away peacefully Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2021, at North Big Horn Hospital, with his daughter and son-in-law by his side.

Ray was born July 4, 1936, in Lovell to Phillip and Alma Snell. He graduated from Cowley High School. He served in the Army from 1959 to1962. In 1963 he married the love of his life, Jeanne Hetland, in Lovell. 

He worked campaign at the sugar factory, hauled hay for Joe Good and worked sheep for Jack Snyder. In June of 1966 he began his career at Wyo-Ben where he went on to retire after 35 years. Ray loved going to the hills with family. His favorite was Dryhead, where he lived until he was 15. The trips were always filled with him telling his favorite memories of growing up there. He loved camping, fly fishing and family. He was especially proud of his two grandkids, Hadley and Mason.

Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanne; his mother and father; and brothers Rufus, Cecil and Jim. 

He is survived by his daughter Karen (Ben) Fowler of Spring Creek, Nevada, grandson Hadley (Kaia) Fowler of Reno, Nevada, granddaughter Mason (Tyler) Dunlap of Elko, Nevada, and great-granddaughters Jovie and Quin Dunlap.

Graveside services were held Saturday, Nov. 13, at the Lovell Cemetery.
