Rays’ record stays unblemished
On Tuesday night, the minor league teams all competed at the Northeast Little League Complex in Lovell.
The Braves hosted the Twins and Rays in a doubleheader on the night.
In game one, the Braves cruised to a commanding 18-1 victory in only two innings of play before time expired, scoring 13 runs in the first inning and adding five more in the second.
For the Twins, the lone run came from Hyatt Weber in the top of the first.
Thayne Walker, Spencer Walker, Kooper May and Hudson Morgan all saw time on the mound for the Twins and combined for six strikeouts and 15 walks.
Luke Bischoff led the Braves with a pair of hits and four RBIs, while Jace Jameson and Nathan Croft added one each.
James Henderson pitched both innings for the Braves and struck out four, walking four and only allowing the single run for the win.
In the nightcap, the Braves faced off against the undefeated Rays, who improved to 12-0 after winning the game 7-4 with aggressive running on the basepaths.
Hayden Harshman had two hits to lead the Rays, and Hawk Hecker, Gus Guccion and Taysom Butler had a hit apiece.
Harshman and Hecker also pitched in the victory, combining for seven strikeouts and only six walks.
Jamen Crosby went the distance for the Braves and had a solid outing totaling five strikeouts and only walking two batters.
Bischoff again had the hot bat with two hits while Crosby, Jameson and Ryker Brunko also put the ball in play for hits.
Powell games
The Rays and Twins both saw action on Monday night in Powell and walked away with wins.
The Rays beat the home team 10-6, and the Twins took care of business to win 8-5.
The Braves and Rays also hosted Powell on Friday evening in Lovell.
The Braves fell to the visitors in game one, 6-3, before the Rays edged out Powell 6-5 in game two.
Coming up
It will be the Rays’ turn to host the doubleheader and put their perfect
record on the line on Thursday night against both the Twins and Braves at 5:30/7 p.m.
The majors and minors interleague tournament will be held next week in Lovell.
