Renon Christensen Jones died on Sept. 6, 2016. Even though she will be greatly missed, we know that she is in a much better place among family and friends.Renon was born on Aug. 5, 1928, to Grace Petersen Christensen and Christian Peter Christensen in Levan, Utah. She was welcomed by three older step-brothers, one older step-sister and a brother, Kirk. Her family was later blessed with the birth of a brother, Craig, and a sister, Geneil.Her younger life included helping on the family farm and in the home, as well as attending elementary school in Levan and then high school in Nephi, Utah. After graduating from high school, she attended the University of Utah and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. She began her teaching career in Levan, but taught in various places in Utah and 32 years at Otto Elementary and later Burlington Elementary.She went on a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to Samoa, where shetaught English at the church school. She returned with a greater appreciation for the Untied States of America where so many are blessed.She later met and married Myron Alfred Jones in the Manti Temple on Dec. 26, 1964. She then moved to Otto to begin an adventure that lasted the rest of her life. Myron and Renon were blessed with three children: Janalee, Randall and Craig.[caption id="attachment_11633" align="alignright" width="176"] Renon Christensen Jones[/caption]After moving to Wyoming, she became involved with many community activities. She was on the Big Horn County School District No. 1 school board and was active in various organizations such as Delta Kappa Gama and Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. Throughout her life, she was very active in her church callings and had a strong testimony of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. She served in many callings: stake dance director, Primary, Young Women and Relief Society presidencies. And as always, she taught wherever she was asked from Primary to adult Sunday school. She especially loved working with the youth.She was very patriotic and politically minded. She loved her country and insisted on voting at every election and made sure her family did, too. She was musically inclined and played the piano and sang alto in the church choir and other groups. She was an excellent seamstress and up until recent years made pajamas for all her grandkids for Christmas.She loved to teach and influenced many, many children and adults for the good. She also loved to dance and read and enjoyed the beauties of the world around her, especially flowers and birds. Just prior to her death, she was outside weeding her flowers and watching the birds at her bird feeder.She was an avid sports fan and spent many hours watching games of any type, especially those that involved her children or grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling, doing word and jigsaw puzzles and being with people. The thing she loved most of all was her family. She felt so blessed to have her kids and grandkids and would have sacrificed anything for them.She was preceded in death by her husband Myron, her parents and her siblings: Leslie, Joseph, Edgar, Leola, Craig and Kirk Christensen, as well as many nieces and nephews.She is survived by her sister Geneil Christensen Tobler and brother-in-law Leon Tobler of Salt Lake City; her three children and their spouses: Janalee and Matthew Call, Randall and Michelle Jones and Craig and Leslie Jones, all residing in Otto, and 20 grandchildren: Camilla Jones (McKay) Hancock, Rebecca Jean Call, Porter Randall (Carrinne) Jones, Jacob Craig (Cassandra) Rickords, Brinna Jones (Taylor) Forsyth, Daniel Harrison Call, Emily Anne Jones, Stevie Rae (David) Flores, Cory Matthew Call, Adam Craig Jones, Connor Alfred Jones, Bridger Craig Jones, Mellicent Grace Call, Tanner Myron Jones, Halli Anne Jones, Caleb Isaac Call, Camden Isaac Jones, Carson Christian Jones, Selena Renon Call and Kinsey Michelle Jones.Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016, at the Burlington Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with Bishop Darrell Bullinger officiating.
