Richard (Dick) Merrill Walker

Dick Walker, 88, died with many loving family members by his side at St. Vincent Hospital in Billings. Dick was born on Feb. 22, 1927, in Byron. He was the fifth child to Eldon Walker and Charlotte (Lottie) Walker. Dick served two years in the U.S. Navy South Pacific during World War II. He married Billie Louis Farmer 68 years ago on Sept. 5, 1947.Survivors include his wife Billie Walker; two sisters; five children, Brent (Nancy) Walker, Brenda (Thayne) Hopkin, Merrill (Gail)Walker, Mary Ann Keeler and Wendy Smith and 16 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.[caption id="attachment_10694" align="alignright" width="250"] Richard (Dick) Merrill Walker[/caption]Dick was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister and son Phillip Walker.Dick was a hard-working man, who started out in the Husky Oil gas plant, then became a long time local business owner of Wyoming Mobile Homes. Many families and children also knew him for many years as the Heart Mountain bus driver.Dick loved providing for his family, always working two jobs or more. He loved his boats, fishing, hunting, retirement at Lake Havasu and happy hour playing cards. The greatest joy in his later years was the time spent with the new babies that came into the family.A celebration of life ceremony will be held on Saturday, Dec. 12, at 10 a.m. at the 525 West Seventh Street Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Powell.In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations be made to Primary Children’s Hospital, 100 N.
