Richard Harold ‘Dick’ Chizek

Richard Harold “Dick” Chizek passed away March 20, 2024, at his home in Chadron, Nebraska, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on January 21, 1939, in Chadron to Thomas and Marvel Chizek. He was the fifth of six children.
Dick was united in marriage to his loving wife, Sandi, on August 16, 1975. They combined their families to include two daughters and two sons.
After graduation from Chadron High School in 1957, he served in the Marine Corp from 1958 to 1961. After being honorably discharged he worked for the Department of Defense. He worked on the HAWK Missile Systems from 1962 to 1966. From 1966 to 1992 he worked with the Naval Undersea Warfare Engineering Division. In 1992, he and Sandi moved to Ketchikan, Alaska. There he worked for the Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division until 1994, when he retired from the civil service.
They found their first retirement home in Lovell, where he could enjoy all the outdoor sports he loved. They enjoyed gardening and their many friends in this small friendly community.
In 2017 Dick and Sandi moved back to Chadron to be closer to his family. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, tinkering in his shop and spending time with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandi, and daughter Brenda.
He is survived by his daughter, Cynthia Marie Booker, of Barstow, California, brother Don Chizek of Selina, Ohio, numerous grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
Graveside services were held Wednesday, March 27, at 1 p.m. at the Greenwood Cemetery in Chadron officiated by Father Todd Philipsen with military honors.
