RMHS music students get high marks at music festival
Gerry Burton, music director at Rocky Mountain High School in Cowley, has released the judges’ results of the 2025 Music Performance Assessment held Tuesday, April 22, for bands and choirs and Wednesday, April 23, for ensembles and solos at Northwest College in Powell. Performances were rated as superior (I) and excellent (II).
The concert choir received ratings of 1, 2+ and 2 from the three judges, while the concert band received a 1, 1 and 2+.
Two vocal duets, Jameeliv and Quinna Brost and Kaysie Cooley/Halle Grandalen, gave a superior performance, as did the Vocalettes quartet. Vocal duets of Keylee Christiansen/Lily George, Elliahna Scheeler/Sharlotte Hanusa and Quinna Brost/Ciara Williams received excellent ratings, as well as the Front Street Boys vocal group.
Several soloists sang before judges. Those students receiving a superior rating were Jadyn Bills, Layla Gardner, Alex Walker, Lafe Files, Jiggs Yellowtail, Keylee Christiansen, Rebecca Herren, Lily George, Jameeliv Brost, Lilian Wenstrom, Evynn Alvarez and Ellie Alvarez. Excellent ratings went to Joaquin Scheeler, Lily Bauwens and John Mader.
The lone instrumental group, a guitar sextet, played a superior performance, according to their judge. Performing superior instrumental solos were Lilian Wenstrom, bari saxophone; Jadyn Bills, bass clarinet; Rebecca Herren, trombone; and Elliahna Scheeler, piano. John Mader received an excellent on the tenor saxophone.
