RMMS Grizzlies clobber Meeteetse

It’s rare to see a shutout in a basketball game, but that’s what the Rocky Mountain Grizzlies pulled off when they played at Meeteetse Friday afternoon.

The Rocky seventh-grade team defeated Meeteetse 51-0, according to statistics provided by head coach Josh Sponsel, and the eighth-grade squad topped the Longhorns 55-6.

Rocky outscored Meeteetse 16-0, 14-0, 17-0 and 4-0 in the four quarters of the seventh-grade or “B” game. Ty Samson led the Grizz with 11 points, and Dally Malson, Madden Cooley and Tyler Crosby scored 8 points each, Wyatt Blank and Hudson Moore 6 apiece and Brooks Brost 4.

In the eighth-grade game, Rocky led 21-1 after the first quarter and 34-4 at halftime, then cruised in the second half with a 21-2 advantage. Lukas Miller scored 14 points, Jaxx May 12, Jaxson Sponsel 11, Jayden Scheeler 9, Cameron Minchow 5, Tejeo Scheeler 3 and Rowan Hanusa 1.

The Grizz played a sixth-grade game at Powell Tuesday, falling 37-20. Karter Miller scored 6 points, Tripp Hopkin 4, Xavier Hetland 3, Maddox Ward, William Simmons and Cody Kougal 2 each, Kaden Baker 1.

The Grizzlies have a busy week ahead. They are scheduled to travel to Basin to meet Riverside today (Thursday) at 4:15 p.m., host Shoshoni Saturday at 10 a.m. and host Powell Tuesday at 4:15 p.m.
