RMMS track team travels to Powell after home meet canceled

The Rocky Mountain Middle School track team traveled to Powell on Saturday. Both the boys and girls did well, even though there were no field events this weekend due to the weather.

“The kids competed well against bigger schools,” head coach Josh Sponsel said. 

Two athletes qualified for Best of the Best. Presli Moss qualified in the 800 with a time of 2:50.38, and Josie Loyning qualified in the 200 hurdles with a time of 34.88. One school record was broken. Tianna Christiansen broke the seventh-grade girls school record in the 100 hurdles with a time of 17.77.

For the seventh-grade girls, Christiansen placed fourth in the 100 hurdles and also placed fourth in the 200 with a time of 30.66. Raelyn Reculusa placed second in the 100 with a time of 14.32, then placed third in the 200 with a time of 30.41.

Moss was third in the 800 and then seventh in the 100 hurdles with a time of 19.19 and ran the 200 hurdles with a time of 35.12, placing seventh. Loyning placed sixth in the 200 hurdles with a time of 34.88. Kielley Brimhall, Kate Crosby, Loyning and Reculusa ran the 4x100 and placed first with a time of 58.43, getting close to breaking the school record.

For the eighth-grade girls, Kaylie Watts ran the 400 with a time of 1:20.77, placing 10th. Elle Ganoung placed 10th in the 100 hurdles with a time of 20.12. The 4x100 team placed fifth with a time of 1:03.06.

For the seventh-grade boys, Tripp Hopkin placed fourth in the 400 with a time of 1:07.56. Aiden Wallman placed ninth in the 100 hurdles with a time of 20.23, then ran the 200 hurdles and placed sixth in 33.57. Will Simmons ran the 100 hurdles and placed seventh with a time of 20.02. Maddox Ward ran the 100 hurdles and placed 10th at 21.90.

For the eighth-grade boys, Henry Pincoskie placed ninth in the 800 with a time of 2:38.73. The 4x100 placed fourth with a time of 52.95, and the medley team placed sixth in 2:08.85.

The Rocky Mountain Middle School track team will travel to Lovell on Friday, the last regular season meet before the conference meet on May 9.
