Rocky Mountain harriers open season at Lovell Invite
The Rocky Mountain Grizzlies opened the 2024 middle school cross country season with a very short road trip Thursday, making the short jaunt to the Lovell Invitational held at the Foster Gulch Golf Course.
No Rocky Mountain girls ran at the meet, but six boys ran at the golf course.
The top finisher for the Grizz was eighth grader Rowan Hanusa, who finished a solid 34th out of 119 runners competing in an eight-team field, completing the course in 15:51.
Not far behind Hanusa was fellow eighth grader Cameron Minchow, who finished 38th in a time of 16:03.
Four others ran for the Grizz on Thursday, completing the course in the following times: eighth grader Grant Weierman in 24:20, sixth grader Mason Haslem in 24:33, seventh grader Liam Anderson in 25:42 and seventh grader Jasper Tippetts in 31:15.
Coach Gerry Burton was unable to provide comments on the team’s performance this week.
Next up, the middle school Grizzlies will join the high school team at the Big Horn Invitational with running scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. at the Big Horn Equestrian Center.
