Rocky Mountain Middle School volleyball off to strong start

The Rocky Mountain Middle School volleyball program is having a strong season so far with a large team and plenty of wins, head coach Lacey Bassett reported this week.

“We have 34 girls this year,” Bassett said. “When the scores say Grizz, Brown, Gold and White (in the scores reported), we are lucky enough to split them into four teams, with max playing time for everyone. Then when our teams are A, B and C, we have our traditional three teams.

“We are about halfway through our season and have been slowly but surely figuring out how to best get every girl the most time on the court. It is definitely a learning year, but we are excited about the future for these Lady Grizz.”

Here is the season summary as reported by Coach Bassett Tuesday:

9/3 at Thermopolis: Grizz (win) 25-10, 25-16, 15-4; Brown (loss) 13-25, 25-23, 11-15; Gold (win) 25-10, 25-16, 15-4; White (loss) 10-25, 18-25, 8-15.

9/4 vs. Burlington: A (loss) 25-15, 20-25, 2-15; B (win) 25-11, 17-25, 15-12; C (win) 25-22, 25-13, 15-8.

9/8 vs. Ten Sleep

(2 games): A (win) 25-15, 25-17, 15-6; C (win) 25-21, 24-26, 15-10.

9/10 at Lovell: Grizz (loss) 25-20, 15-25, 8-15; Brown (win) 25-12, 25-12, 4-15; Gold (loss) 10-25, 13-25, 9-15; White (no score).

9/15 vs. Greybull: Grizz (loss) 15-25, 15-25; Brown (loss) 10-25, 12-25; Gold (win) 25-11, 25-21; White (win) 25-11, 25-19.

9/17 at Meeteetse: (1 game) B (win) 25-11, 25-9, 15-9.

9/19 vs. Riverside: A (win) 25-8, 21-25, 15-6; B (win) 25-16, 25-18, 15-13; C (win) 25-13, 25-23, 15-7.

9/21 at Powell: Grizz (loss) 25-20, 20-25, 11-15; Brown (loss) 25-12, 9-25, 12-25; Gold (loss) 25-19,14-25, 7-15; White (loss) 25-23, 23-25, 13-15.

The Lady Grizz are scheduled to play at Shoshoni on Saturday with games starting at 9:30 a.m.
