Rocky Mountain to stage murder mystery next week
Rocky Mountain Middle/High School will present “Murder on the 518” as the school’s 2026 spring play next Monday and Tuesday.
Written by Michelle Giles, the play is being billed as a family friendly mystery “sure to keep the audience guessing right up until the train pulls into the station.”
Director Dorine Strom presented the plot as follows:
“Red-eye travelers on the westbound 518 are in for a surprise when first one passenger and then another mysteriously drop dead right before their eyes – and just as the train is halted by a rockslide in an isolated canyon. Because the pair appears to have been poisoned, anyone and everyone in the train dining car is a suspect.
“Unable to call for help, the eccentric passengers, including two newlyweds, an astronomy professor, a sports recruiter, a CEO, a movie star, an aspiring musician and others, try to work together with the wait staff to find the murderer before they reach their destination and the killer escapes for good. Unfortunately, not everything, or everyone, is as it seems.”
Playing major roles are Clair Mumford, Nora Kougl, Landon Pruett, Rowan Hanusa, Cameron Minchow, Adynley Johnson, Harper Griffin, Daizy Weinand, Emma Collins, Timothy John Yellowtail, William Anderson, Jasper Tippetts, Alex Walker, Lilian Wenstrom, Madalyn McCollam and Ashlynn Davison.
Also in the cast are Canyon Weinand, Stacia Tippetts, Emmilee Wambeke, Ridge Wilson, Lyle Montanez, Ella Pierce, Brooklin Heron, Kaylie Watts, Sarah Wardell, Gabe Walker, Nolan Hedges and Cody Kougl.
“Murder on the 518” will play April 27 and 28 at 7 p.m. at the school cafeteria/commons. Admission is free.
