The Rocky Mountain Middle School cross country team concluded the 2023 season with a successful run at the conference meet in Powell Friday, with three of the four Rocky runners recording personal records.

The top runner for the Grizzlies was seventh grader Rowan Hanusa, who ran a time of 16 minutes even to finish 78th out of 123 runners. Seventh grader Cameron Minchow was close behind Hanusa, finishing 80th in 16:08. Both runners recorded personal records.

Seventh grader Grant Weierman ran 20:45, which is second only to his time in Thermopolis (20:34), and sixth grader Jasper Tippetts finished in 23:18, a PR by a minute and a half.

Coach Gerry Burton said he is pleased with how his young team – both in experience and age – improved this season.

“This is Rowan and Cameron’s first year. Jasper has cut (a lot of time) from the beginning of the season, and they are doing great,” Burton said. “Everyone met a goal at conference and is excited to begin next year’s chapter. It was a fun day with great weather for a run.”
