Ruth Tippetts
Jan. 7, 1938 – Sept. 16, 2025
Ruth Tippetts passed away September 16, 2025, at her home in Lovell.
She was born in Lovell on January 7, 1938, to Calvin and LuNita Lowe Thompson. She was the youngest of five children. Ruth attended Lovell schools, where she graduated on May 18, 1956.
After working at Lovell Laundry for three years she left to find work in Helena, Montana. She worked in a hospital there for a year before deciding to return to Lovell.
She soon met the love of her life and married Alva Tippetts in the Salt Lake Temple on December 2, 1959. Together they had four children. Later in life Ruth enjoyed the farm work with Alva. She liked changing the water, and he loved to cook. It made a great combination. Alva sadly passed away on August 22, 1987.
Ruth worked at the hospital in Lovell and then started working at the Super 8 Motel. She cleaned rooms at the motel for more than 30 years, then she decided to retire in her 70s. Over the years of cleaning she made a lot of friends that would come back every year just to see her.
Even though she retired from the motel she didn’t slow down. You would always see her outside making sure the weeds got pulled. She was very grateful for all her family and extended family for always being there when she needed them. She enjoyed and looked forward to seeing her grandkids and great-grandkids. She was always slipping them a dollar or two.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Alva, sister Wanda (Chuck) Hammond, brother Calvin (Parthena) Thompson, brothers-in-law Rupert Asay and Ivan Gilmore, sisters-in-law Edna (Roy) Arnoldus and Geneva (Wilmer) Nicholls and brother-in-law Buff (Laraine) Tippetts.
Ruth is survived by her sisters, Lorna Asay and Geneva Gilmore; children Ginger Jackson, Doug (Brenda) Tippetts, Rick (Colleen) Tippetts and Shawna Tippetts; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 19, and interment was in the Lovell Cemetery.
