SAR Gun raffle planned for Saturday

As Big Horn County Search and Rescue waits with bated breath to learn if they will be the winners of the 2026 Land Rover Defender Service Awards, local fundraising continues. The Bighorn Basin has been voting online, hoping the SAR crew will win a Land Rover Defender 130 and a $30,000 grant to support the organization over four other nationwide contenders.

SAR thanked voters in a social media post Tuesday, “Mission: Defender voting is officially over, and we’re incredibly grateful for your support. We’ll find out later this week if we made the top two — and if we have news to share, we’ll announce it at our raffle fundraiser Saturday. Sounds like a pretty good reason to come hang out with us.”

Big Horn County Search and Rescue Foundation will host a gun raffle event at Greybull City Park Saturday, Aug. 22 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Raffle tickets are available online at https://www.bighorncountysearchandrescue.org/bhcountysargunraffle or by contacting any member of the organization. A 9mm pistol and several rifles are available, including a custom-built rifle engraved with the Big Horn County Search and Rescue logo. The raffle drawing is planned for 6 p.m., need not be present to win.

Entertainment for the event includes live music by The Rewinders, Hawg Heaven BBQ, Ridge Runners Pizza, A Scoop of Hope, Sip Stop LLC, beer and hard seltzer from Black Tooth Brewing of Sheridan, a silent auction and games.
