Scott Baxendale

May 20, 1952 – April 10, 2025

Scott Baxendale, 72, died April 10, 2025, the result of an accident on the Big Horn Mountains.

Scott was born to Gerald and Doris Baxendale on May 20, 1952, in Powell. He graduated from Lovell High School in 1970. Scott attended Rocky Mountain College in Billings on a football scholarship and played all four years, receiving a degree in geology in 1974.

After graduating college, Scott traveled to Australia, something that he always wanted to do, where he worked on a cattle ranch in the Northern Territory for almost a year. Upon returning to Lovell, Scott worked various jobs that included building fences, farming, ranching and working campaigns at the sugar factory. He was eventually hired full time at the factory and worked there until his retirement in May 2017. To stay busy after retirement, he was hired part time by the Town of Lovell in the summer of 2018, where he tended to the rose gardens until his death.

Scott met Pat Gray in the summer of 1992. They married in December of 1996.

Scott was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Doris Baxendale, and one baby brother, Donald.

Scott is survived by his wife, Pat, of 28 years; stepchildren John (Kelly) Gray of Goodyear, Arizona, Jennifer Gray of Houston, Texas, and Carrie (Brian) Bischoff of Lovell; sister Julie Fisher of Worden, Montana; brothers Brad (Tami) Baxendale, Todd (Robin) Baxendale and Neil (Jodi) Baxendale, all from Lovell; step-grandchildren Caleb and Tim Gray, Max and Savanah Asero, Cody and Kelly Broussard, Ezra Harlow and Luke and Elizabeth Bischoff; uncle Bill (Kathy) Baxendale; aunts Phyllis Fringer and Phyrn Opp, both of Lovell; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Per his wishes, there will be no funeral. A private gathering was held April 13.
