Seniors lead LHS indoor track and field squad
Seniors Carissa Lindsay and Adnan Khan lead a dedicated team of 14 indoor track and field athletes into competition this Saturday at the Camel Indoor Invitational in Gillette to start the 2024 season.
Lindsay, who recently signed a letter of intent to attend the University of Providence next year, placed fourth in the 3A State shot put last year and is currently ranked third heading into the first meet of the season. For Khan, who placed third in the 3A State triple jump and seventh in the 55 meters, it has been “his resilience,” according to head coach Lindsay Lindsay that has helped him return to form after suffering an injury during the football season. He is currently ranked second in the Class 3A triple jump to start the season.
Coach Lindsay, who is beginning her fourth season as head coach of the Lovell Indoor Track and Field team, feels this team is poised for success with a blend of seasoned athletes and promising newcomers. Both squads look to improve on last year’s state performances when the Bulldogs placed 12th while the Lady Bulldogs finished in 17th place.
AJ Montanez will again be the strength and throws coach for the team (his fourth season with the program) and “has done a very good job with the throwers who continue to show progression and have transitioned seamlessly from the outdoor season to the ongoing indoor competition” added Coach Lindsay.
After the Camel Invitational this Saturday Lovell High School will compete at the Basin Nation Indoor Track Invite in Casper on February 2, the Simplot Games in Pocatello, Idaho, on February 15-17 and at the Wyoming 3A State Championships in Gillette on March 2-3.
