Sheriff’s report: Bicyclist riding at dark creates hazard
The Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office received the following calls for the week of Aug. 5 - 11:
Aug. 5: A trespass order was issued for a residence near Byron.
A telephone scam was reported to deputies regarding a caller claiming to be from the Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office. The caller does not work for the sheriff’s department.
A resident of Frannie reported someone entering a vacant house. Deputies checked the house, and all doors and windows were secure.
Aug. 6: Deputies responded to a report of a domestic altercation on Road 11.5 near Lovell. Morgan Josephine Mattheis was arrested for domestic violence involving bodily injury of a household member.
Deputies assisted a motorist with a stuck vehicle on Road 7.
A report of an overdue person from Frannie was cancelled after the person was found in Park County.
Deputies conducted a routine check of a business in Cowley.
Aug. 7: A motorist was assisted with securing a strap on a commercial trailer on Highway 310 near Lovell.
Aug. 8: Deputies conducted a welfare check on an elderly man in Deaver. Everything checked out OK.
While checking on a vehicle that was reported abandoned on Highway 310 near Lovell, deputies found a note from the vehicle’s owner noting that he planned to remove the vehicle the next day.
A bicyclist traveling along Highway 310 with no lights or reflectors was reported for causing a road hazard on the highway. Deputies were unable to locate the cyclist.
Aug. 9: Deputies received a report of a wallet lost somewhere on Road 12.5 near Lovell.
Aug. 10: Deputies conducted extra patrol near the airport north of Cowley.
Loose cows were reported on Highway 14A.
Deputies received a report about suspicious blinking lights located near the causeway outside of Lovell. It turned out that the lights were from a nearby bentonite plant.
Aug. 11: A property owner reported a suspicious vehicle using his private driveway to access a nearby river. Deputies were unable to locate the vehicle.
