Sheriff’s report: Deputies assist after motorist misdirected into field by GPS

The Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office received the following calls for the week of June 24-30:

June 24: Deputies were asked to stand by during a civil matter.

A complaint regarding use of fireworks outside of times permitted by ordinance was fielded by deputies in Byron.

June 25: Deputies were asked to stand by at a residence near Lovell while items were exchanged.

Deputies assisted a motorist on Highway 14A when a vehicle overheated.

June 26: Cows were reported out on Hwy 32 near Lovell.

June 27: A resident of Deaver reported a scam that took place in California. Deputies referred her to that jurisdiction. 

Deputies received a complaint about fireworks in Byron.

June 28: Deputies assisted a motorist who got stuck in the mud after being misdirected by GPS near Byron.

A resident of Deaver reported a scam from someone claiming to be a pastor in Powell. The individual was asking for money to be sent via gift cards.

June 29: Deputies assisted an individual with a tractor that had broken down on Lane 13 near Lovell.

Cows, calves and a bull were reported loose on the highway near Byron.

June 30: Deputies conducted extra patrol near the airport in Cowley.

Deputies fielded another complaint about fireworks being set off in Byron in violation of the town’s ordinance.

Note: The above calls were received by the Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office. Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and charges made upon initial arrest may be amended or dismissed as determined by the County Attorney.
