Sheriff’s report: Man shoots self in leg by accident

The Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office received the following calls for the week of July 29 – Aug 1:

July 31: Deputies assisted with traffic control during a road closure near Deaver.

A black cow was loose on Highway 310.

Deputies assisted with a search for a suspect in a theft from a local business in Lovell.

Aug 1: A man who was in the process of unloading a gun to clean it accidentally shot himself in the leg near Lovell.

Deputies requested emergency medical services after conducting a welfare check on an individual located near Lovell.

Aug 2: A wandering cow was reported on Highway 14A near Lovell.

The owner of an abandoned vehicle on Highway 32 near Lovell agreed to have the vehicle towed.

Aug 3: Deputies conducted a routine business check near Lovell.

Two paddle boards were reported missing from a house in Cowley. The matter is under investigation.

Deputies investigated a child’s welfare after receiving a report from a concerned citizen about how the child was being treated. The child checked out OK.

Lois Jean Yorgason of Lovell was arrested for possession of several controlled substances and charged with driving under the influence.

Aug 4: An individual in Byron reported that his neighbor’s cows keep getting out and grazing in his yard. He was advised that it is a civil matter.

Deputies assisted another agency to check on a person working near the Horseshoe Bend boat ramp. The individual checked out OK.

Cole Ashton Timmons of Lovell was arrested for youthful offender DUI during a traffic stop. Four others in the vehicle were cited for minor in possession.

Note: The above calls were received by the Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office. Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and charges made upon initial arrest may be amended or dismissed as determined by the County Attorney.
