Sheriff’s report Neighbor in Byron fed up with crowing rooster
The Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office received the following calls for the week of May 20-26:
May 20: Deputies received a report of livestock on the highway.
A Frannie resident reported being contacted by a scammer who asked him to send $2,000 to receive $1 million. He recognized it was a scam and did not send money.
A Byron resident reported a very loud rooster at his neighbor’s house. Since it is illegal to keep roosters in Byron, the town mayor was contacted and asked to mediate the dispute.
May 21: A Big Horn County resident reported a scam phone call where the caller claimed to have a warrant for his arrest. This is a common scam.
A Cowley resident reported that a strange man knocked on her door asking if she had security cameras on the premises. She asked him to leave.
May 22: A resident of Frannie reported a suspicious person trolling her property. Deputies were unable to locate the individual.
A vehicle parked on town property was towed away by its owner.
A Cowley resident reported stray horses on his property.
May 23: A man called deputies to ask for permission to leave a vehicle stuck in the mud near John Blue Canyon. Permission could not be given because it was BLM land. The individual was directed to call the BLM for permission.
May 24: Deputies were called to mediate a dispute. They were advised that it was a civil matter.
Deputies investigated a suspicious set of circumstances where a man circling a park in Byron made a remark about the park being dangerous for children. The man could not be located.
May 25: Deputies were called regarding an empty vehicle with its door left open. After checking the vehicle, including the trunk of the vehicle, they determined the owner had just left the door open by mistake.
Deputies investigated a report of cows on the railroad tracks near Lovell. The report was unfounded. Cows were nearby but behind a fence.
Deputies contacted the owner of a semi parked on the road between Frannie and Deaver and determined everything was OK.
