Sheriff report: Caller: People ‘drive like idiots’ on Highway 32

The Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office received the following other calls for the week of October 27-November 2:

October 27: 4:24 p.m. – A caller from Byron reported that a cat has been “hanging around all day” and asked if anyone was missing one, a grey cat with a red collar.

October 28: 12:10 p.m. – A caller reported a maroon Bonneville with a bumper hanging off unable to maintain a lane of travel about three miles west of Byron. As the car was heading into Park County, authorities there were notified, and the Powell Police Department spotted the car at a parts store.

3:34 p.m. – A Byron resident reported a possible larceny on East Riverview, saying that tools were missing out of his work truck. The case is under investigation.

October 29: 11:24 a.m. – A caller living just south of Lovell on Wyoming Highway 32 called to complain that “people drive like idiots” on the highway, passing on double lines and on a bridge, saying, “It happens all the time.” The Wyoming Highway Patrol noted the complaint.

October 30: 4:11 p.m. – A caller living on North Center in Byron called to report that her small reddish female dog had been missing for three days.

6:19 p.m. – A report of a car vs. deer collision a mile northeast of Byron was transferred to the Wyoming Game and Fish since the deer apparently survived the collision and “had taken off.”

October 31: 10 a.m. – A white, fluffy and friendly dog was once again reported at Good2Go west of Lovell, with a sheriff’s spokesman noting that he is not a stray and “everybody loves him and feeds him.”

4:54 p.m. – A report of a phone line down on East Riverview in Byron was referred to TCT.

8:32 p.m. – A deputy made an arrest in Cowley on a warrant out of Park County, meeting a Park County deputy at the county line to exchange the arrested individual.

November 1: 2:32 a.m. – Contact was made with individuals three miles northwest of Lovell on U.S. 310 who were “running home from the gym.”

5:37 p.m. – A deputy investigating a white van with a trailer that had slid off the road just south of Lovell on U.S. 310 discovered that there was a warrant out of Washakie County on the driver, who was taken to the Big Horn/Washakie county line and turned over to a Washakie County deputy.

8:11 p.m. – A complaint was called in about hunters camping on private property on Spence Road southeast of Lovell. A deputy made contact with the out-of-state hunters and told them to leave. They complied.

Genavive Aubrey Mader, 23, of Cowley was arrested in Basin for DUI, open container of alcohol and possession of marijuana and released on her own recognizance.

November 2: 11:14 a.m. – A green Toyota Corolla was reported abandoned on Road 5 near Byron.

Deputies also dealt with four livestock calls this week.

Note: The above calls were received by the Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office. Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and charges made upon initial arrest may be amended or dismissed as determined by the County Attorney.
