Sheriff report: Deputies help with lost keys, wallet and driver’s license

The Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office received the following calls for the week of July 6-12:

July 6: 1:04 p.m. – The Wyoming Highway Patrol asked for assistance at the scene of a semi with brakes that had locked up about 10 miles south of Lovell on U.S. 310, but the Patrol called back to report the situation was taken care of.

July 7: 4:05 p.m. – A disabled woman in Byron asked for help getting a fan out of her garage.

July 8: 3:04 p.m. – A deputy removed a road hazard – a dead porcupine – from Highway 32 south of Byron.

3:33 p.m. – A caller reported a dog running loose on East Platte in Byron and acting “very strange” – walking in circles with its tail tucked. A deputy was unable to locate the dog.

July 9: 3:30 a.m. – A deputy assisted Lovell police at the scene of a call on Jersey Avenue where a woman said someone was knocking on her window.

July 10: 5:30 p.m. -- A caller reported receiving a package in the mail addressed to him but said he didn’t order anything. A deputy took care of the package.

8:21 a.m. – A woman calling from the Crystal Creek Road reported that she was stuck “in the middle of nowhere” and had run out of gas. A deputy transported the woman to get some fuel.

9:41 p.m. – A caller reported a car parked next to an abandoned trailer in Byron. A deputy investigated and found that the car had been parked at the site for a long time.

July 11: 10:19 a.m. – A citizen turned in a lost wallet. The sheriff’s office made contact with the owner, and a deputy met the owner at the Park County line.

11:24 a.m. – A caller reported that someone had manually entered his credit card number in Kansas, and he needed a report for his bank.

11:35 a.m. – A caller reported losing keys between Frannie and Cowley, then called back to say that the keys had been found.

5:46 p.m. – A caller reported that juveniles in a black SUV and a green Ford were racing side by side up and down. A deputy was unable to locate the racers.

6:04 p.m. – A deputy encountered people walking down the highway just northeast of Byron. They said their car had broken down and somebody was coming to pick them up.

9:19 p.m. – A deputy returned a driver’s license that had been found at the Byron town park.

10:06 p.m. – A caller said an inebriated man had threatened to “F him up” at Good2Go west of Lovell, then left driving a maroon or rust colored 1977 Ford. A deputy made contact with the caller, who said he was concerned about the person driving in his present state. A deputy was unable to locate the vehicle and passed the information on to the night shift.

10:41 p.m. – A caller reported that a black and white dog had gone missing on East Riverview in Byron.

10:57 p.m. – Keys found at the park in Byron were returned to the owner.

11:11 p.m. – A caller on East Yellowstone in Byron complained of someone leaving “fireworks garbage” on her lawn.

11:28 p.m. – A deputy checked on a car parked on Road 5 near Cowley. The driver said he was just rearranging some items in his vehicle.

July 12: 7:26 p.m. – A deputy checked on a vehicle about 18 miles south of Lovell on U.S. 310. Everything was 10-4.

Note: The above calls were received by the Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office. Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and charges made upon initial arrest may be amended or dismissed as determined by the County Attorney.
