Sheriff report: Deputies work with Lovell police on domestic dispute calls
The Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office received the following calls for the week of April 28-May 4:
April 28: 9:33 a.m. – A caller from Deaver reported a mastiff mix dog at his house, running in the field where his cows were kept. He was concerned about his cows. The dog owner was contacted.
10:32 a.m. – Utility customers came to complain about their water bill at the Byron Town Hall, and when the discussion verbally escalated, the sheriff’s office was called to maintain order.
April 29: 10:36 a.m. – A deputy checked on the occupants of a vehicle parked alongside the road on U.S. 14A two miles northeast of Byron. They were fine.
April 30: 2:35 p.m. – Deputies responded to a rollover crash at Wyoming 32 and Road 5 southwest of Byron. (See related story.)
5:21 p.m. – A woman called dispatch to report that a white pickup pulled alongside of her as she was passing through Deaver and nearly forced her off the road the day before. She did not get a plate number, however.
5:26 p.m. – Deputy Brandon Angell was driving back to Big Horn County after a citizen assist in Powell when a deer jumped in front of his patrol vehicle near Prayer Rock. He was unable to avoid the deer, but the collision produced minimal damage due to safety equipment on his front bumper. Sheriff Ken Blackburn noted that the incident was investigated by an outside agency.
May 2: 10:14 a.m. – A deputy backed up the Lovell Police Department during a response to a report of domestic dispute at the Lovell Apartments.
1:59 p.m. – Both the sheriff’s office and Lovell police investigated a report of a truck spilling cement while traveling through and eventually out of Lovell. The cement company was contacted and said they would clean up the cement.
May 3: 6:17 a.m. – A residential burglar alarm on East Second in Lovell turned out to be a malfunction.
May 4: 12:11 a.m. – A deputy provided backup for the LPD on a domestic dispute call on Idaho Avenue in which a man was reportedly punched in the face by his girlfriend. The two had been drinking.
8:52 a.m. – A caller in Byron reported that they could hear their neighbors screaming at each other, throwing things and slamming doors. A deputy responded and determined that the dispute was verbal only, and the subjects were separated.
10:59 a.m. – A caller reported a bull mastiff running around the neighborhood on West Shoshone Avenue in Byron and acting aggressively toward people. The owner was given a warning for dog at large.
5:07 p.m. – A caller reported that he has a scammer coming to meet him and that he had most of the incident solved but wanted to report the incident. No money was exchanged, and the caller was given the number for a federal agency to report the scam.
Note: The above calls were received by the Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office. Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and charges made upon initial arrest may be amended or dismissed as determined by the County Attorney.
