Sheriff report: Dog bite victim does not press charges

The Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office received the following calls for the week of April 13-19:

April 13: 2:05 a.m. – A report of a red semi with a trailer seen near Good 2 Go with a possibly intoxicated driver was referred to the Wyoming Highway Patrol.

9:13 a.m. – A report of a black cow near the highway about two miles south of Lovell on U.S. 310 was referred to the Wyoming Highway Patrol, and a trooper put the cow back into its pasture.

4:12 p.m. – A deputy checked on a vehicle parked on the side of the road southwest of the Oasis Junction on 14A and found that the driver had stopped to use a cell phone.

4:26 p.m. – A deputy checked on an unlicensed car with a For Sale sign in the window parked on Main Street in Byron for well more than the three days allowed by town ordinance. The owner was contacted and said the car had just sold and would be moved.

April 14: 3:41 p.m. – A caller reported a car parked alongside the Crystal Creek Road with its door open but nobody around. When a deputy responded later, the car was gone.

5:22 p.m. – The Lovell Police Department referred a call regarding a dog bite that took place on Road 11½ between Lane 12 and Lane 13. The victim was walking along the county road when a dog came out of a yard and bit the individual, leaving two puncture wounds. The dog was fully vaccinated, and the victim did not wish to pursue charges.

11:28 p.m. – A deputy assisted the Highway Patrol with a report of a horse loose on U.S. 310 between Deaver and Frannie. Neither officer could find the horse.

April 16: 1:31 p.m. – A deputy checked on a report of a boat with a broken windshield on South Pryor in Byron. There was no evidence of a thrown object, and wind may have been the cause. The owner needed a report for the insurance company.

7:59 p.m. – A caller sought information for his daughter on obtaining a restraining order. Assistance was given.

April 17: 7:51 a.m. – A report of two black calves out on Highway 37 just south of Horseshoe Bend was referred to the Highway Patrol.

April 18: 1:57 p.m. – A deputy checked on a report of calves out at Wyoming Highway 32 and Lane 12. The owner was contacted and said he would put them away.

April 19: 11:46 a.m. – A deputy pushed a bull found to be loose on County Road 3 back into a pasture.

7:14 p.m. – A deputy removed nylon straps found in the road on Highway 32 south of Byron.

Note: The above calls were received by the Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office. Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and charges made upon initial arrest may be amended or dismissed as determined by the County Attorney.
