Sheriff report: Frannie man arrested for felony theft
The Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office received the following calls for the week of Jan. 13-19:
January 13: 3:57 a.m. – A report was called in of a black cow out on the highway just east of Cowley on U.S. 310. Dispatch attempted to contact the owner, and the Wyoming Highway Patrol was notified.
2:03 p.m. – Another cow was reported on the highway just west of Lovell near Midway Construction and Dirt Work.
4:12 p.m. – A deputy stopped to assist a motorist just west of Byron on U.S. 14A after the officer noticed that a mud flap on a parked car with occupant had torn loose and had folded up into the wheel well. The deputy removed the mud flap for the driver.
4:37 p.m. – A two-vehicle accident was reported in Cowley in which a 2002 Nissan driven by Brandon Jones, 43, passed into an intersection and was struck by a 2007 Honda Accord driven by Larry Woodington, 21. The impact took place on the rear passenger door.
January 14: 11:33 a.m. – Two deputies spotted five to six horses out on Road 5 near the Byron Cemetery. The officers returned the horses to their pasture and wired a cattle guard back into place so they wouldn’t get out again.
4:38 p.m. – A driver witnessed and reported that an elderly man driving in Cowley had run a stop sign, but the reporting party was unwilling to sign a complaint.
January 15: 3:42 p.m. – A woman reported a dog at large on U.S. 14A west of Lovell. She was advised that there is no ordinance regarding dogs at large in the county and that she should place a notice on Facebook.
January 16: 4:35 p.m. – A caller reported receiving two emails telling him to send money in the form of Bitcoin, and he wished to report the incident.
4:48 p.m. – A man from Montana driving a semi reported that a vehicle had cut him off several times and also attempted to sideswipe his truck. He said it appeared that the occupants of the vehicle were fighting. A deputy made contact with the driver of the offending vehicle and issued a warning for speed.
10:48 p.m. – A caller from Utah reported that his father should have gotten home by now. The reporting party called back 10 minutes later to say he had made contact with his father, who had arrived home.
Alexander Burnell Yeaman, 23, of Frannie was arrested on a charge of felony theft for an incident that took place at a residence in Deaver. The case is under investigation.
January 17: 11:56 a.m. – A woman attempted to switch her cell phone provider from AT&T to Verizon but was told that someone had already opened an account in her name and that she couldn’t open a new account until the balance was paid off.
January 18: 1:27 p.m. - Deputies assisted at the scene of a one-car accident on U.S. 310 near Frannie. A 2024 Chevy Silverado driven by John Florom, 62, left the roadway and took out 150 feet of fence and fence posts. The highway patrol was on scene for the investigation.
4:45 p.m. – A 15-year-old driver was turning off U.S. 310 south of Lovell onto Lane 13 when she clipped a 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe stopped at the intersection with the horse trailer she was pulling. Her father was in the vehicle with her.
January 19: 12:25 p.m. – A woman reported that she had been looking for two lost cows for the past four days and there was no word on the cows even though she had put a notice on Facebook. She was advised to contact a brand inspector.
2:39 p.m. – A caller reported that he had sent money to a website requesting cryptocurrency after being told his money would be doubled in three to five days and would be returned, which did not happen. He was advised to report the scam to the FBI scam internet site.
Note: The above calls were received by the Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office. Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and charges made upon initial arrest may be amended or dismissed as determined by the County Attorney.
