Sheriff report: Greybull man arrested on multiple charges

The Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office received the following calls for the week of July 13-19:

July 13: 6:12 a.m. – Horses were reported running loose near Rocky Mountain Middle/High School. The owner was contacted.

10:46 a.m. – A citizen requested information regarding the eviction process. Eviction papers were served the next day.

Following a traffic stop for speeding, Roberto Jesus Ramirez Calzado of Greybull was arrested for possession of a controlled substance in powder or crystalline form, no driver’s license, open container of alcohol, no compulsory auto insurance, speeding and on a warrant out of Platte County.

July 15: 5:08 p.m. – A deputy removed garbage from the highway just west of Cowley on U.S. 310.

July 16: 3:07 a.m. – A caller reported three raccoons hit on the highway just northeast of Byron. A deputy was unable to locate the animals.

3:14 a.m. – A deputy removed trash from the highway just southwest of the Oasis Junction.

7:48 a.m. – A caller reported a loaded semi backed up on a runaway truck ramp with its hood up east of Lovell atop the Big Horns on U.S. 14A. The Wyoming Highway Patrol was advised.

10:56 a.m. – A woman in Byron made contact with a deputy worried that her ex-boyfriend was returning to town. She was advised to call 911 if there were any problems.

11:53 a.m. – A caller in the Lovell area said he knows someone who lied under oath in court. He was advised to pass the information along to court officials.

5:16 p.m. – A deputy witnessed a small tornado touch down in the sandhills off Road 5 north of Byron.

July 17: 3:53 p.m. – A large amount of bentonite was reportedly spilled on the highway about six miles east of Lovell on U.S. 14A, and the reporting party was concerned about possible rain. GK Construction responded with a grader and sweeper to clean up the bentonite.

4:53 p.m. – The driver of a Ford Explorer reported having overheated brakes near the Five Springs campground east of Lovell. The brakes cooled, and the Ford was able to continue off the mountain.

July 18: 12:34 p.m. – A deputy checked on a parked vehicle east of Lovell near the turnoff to Highway 37. The driver was sleeping, and everything was 10-4.

3:05 p.m. – A small black bear was seen near the boat ramp at the U.S. 14A causeway east of Lovell. Wyoming Game and Fish was notified.

3:31 p.m. – A suspicious person was reported at the splash pad in Cowley. A deputy made contact with the man, who was waiting for his daughter to finish splashing while he made some calls.

5:36 p.m. – An abandoned vehicle was reported blocking part of a road at the park in Cowley. No registration could be found, so a deputy left a note for the owner.

5:47 p.m. – A caller expressed concern about a dog on Road 7 near Lovell. A deputy checked on the dog and found it to have shelter, food and water.

7:25 p.m. – A car was reported speeding too fast following the Pioneer Day Rodeo in Cowley. A deputy made contact, advised the driver of the complaint and told him he needs to watch his speed.

8:52 p.m. – A car was reported as speeding on Division Street in Cowley. A deputy made contact with the driver and advised the driver of the complaint.

10:36 p.m. – Deputies assisted the Lovell Police Dept. with an arrest on Second Street in Lovell.

July 19: 2:05 a.m. – A caller advised that two males were fighting behind the Bull Pub in Cowley. The fighters had left the area by the time law enforcement arrived.

9:46 p.m. – A caller reported someone shooting off fireworks near Main Street in Byron. A deputy was unable to find anyone lighting off fireworks.

10:31 p.m. – A caller reported a missing brown and white terrier in Byron and gave dispatch permission to share the dog owners’ phone number in case someone reported finding the dog.
