Sheriff report: Intoxicated woman arrested for allowing minor to drive her around
The Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office received the following other calls for the week of October 6-12:
October 6: 11:51 a.m. – A deputy on patrol in Byron noticed a dog at large on North Center rummaging through its owner’s garbage can and garbage blowing into the street. The deputy spoke to the owner and told the owner to keep the dog inside and out of the garbage and to pick up the garbage that had blown away.
2:17 p.m. – A company that sells cars in Frannie notified the sheriff’s office that a car the company purchased for sale had drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle. The company asked the S.O. to take custody of the material, which was then destroyed.
5:52 p.m. – Several cows were found to be loose at Road 9 and Lane 9 near Cowley. The owner could not be contacted, but deputies put the cows back into their pasture.
6:25 p.m. – A deputy assisted the Wyoming Highway Patrol at the scene of a semi-truck that had broken down east of Lovell on U.S. 14A just before the Big Horn Lake causeway. The driver stated that a mechanic could not tend to the vehicle until the next day, so a deputy gave the driver a ride to a motel for the night.
9:39 p.m. – An intoxicated woman went to her ex-husband’s house on Lane 11½ near Lovell, and deputies found a minor driving the vehicle. Jacklyn Sue Brown was arrested for open container, permitting an unlicensed person to drive and child abandonment or endangerment.
October 7: 6:05 a.m. – Deputies responded to the scene of a pickup truck that struck cows on the Big Horn Mountains 27 miles east of Lovell. Two cows and a bull were killed in the collision.
9:38 a.m. – A white Toyota Camry with damage to the front end was found parked and unoccupied at the pullout next to the Georgia-Pacific turnoff on U.S. 310 south of Lovell. The vehicle was tagged for possible removal.
9:47 a.m. – Another vehicle was parked near Lovell Lakes and tagged for removal.
3:50 p.m. – A deputy in Byron informed a dog owner that their dog had been out all day and that they needed to “figure something out” to keep him in.
4:27 p.m. – While performing a V.I.N. inspection in the Byron area, a deputy was informed by the vehicle owners that they had found a wallet alongside the highway and wished to turn it over to the sheriff’s office. The deputy found an ID inside and contacted the owner in Powell, who had lost the wallet some two months earlier.
October 8: 1:39 p.m. – A caller stated that someone had obtained their credit card information and had purchased some $2,000 worth of merchandise in South Carolina. The caller said the credit card company required a law enforcement report before reimbursement.
October 9: 8:30 a.m. – A deputy responded to a report of a badly injured deer along the highway north of Frannie on U.S. 310 but found a highway patrol trooper already on scene to dispatch the injured animal.
October 10: 3:30 a.m. – A caller reported a barking dog on South Division in Cowley.
7:18 a.m. – A vehicle vs. deer collision was reported three miles west of Cowley on U.S. 310. The 2007 white Toyota Rav 4 was still drivable.
1:32 p.m. – Two horses and a mule were reported out on West Main in Byron. The owner’s daughter-in-law was contacted and put the trio back where they belonged.
October 11: 9:33 a.m. – Deputies responded to the scene of a reported motorhome fire 14 miles east of Lovell on U.S. 14A just southeast of the causeway. The vehicle was not consumed but had filled with smoke.
9:35 a.m. – A family dispute involving a couple breaking up in Cowley escalated when a male went to his girlfriend’s father’s house and the two got into it. The male and the father were both cited for simple assault, and the daughter’s boyfriend was trespassed from the residence.
9:31 p.m. – A caller reported that a dog had come to their home in Cowley in case someone reported a missing pet.
11:08 p.m. – A caller reported that the railroad crossing arms were down on Highway 37 at CETCO.
October 12: 11:06 a.m. – A caller on Lane 12 near Lovell reported that she could smell something odd in her house and wasn’t sure if it was gas. The call was referred to the Lovell Fire Department.
6:35 p.m. – A caller on Lane 2½ near Frannie reported that a neighbor’s dogs were in her yard and coming at her aggressively. She said she shot in the dogs’ direction to warn them off but did not hit them.
October 13: Shaun Michael Thompson of Deaver was arrested on a warrant out of Florida.
Note: The above calls were received by the Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office. Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and charges made upon initial arrest may be amended or dismissed as determined by the County Attorney.
