Sheriff report: Man and wife arrested for child endangerment
The Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office received the following calls for the week of Nov. 18-24:
November 18: 6:45 p.m. – A caller reported a vehicle stopped alongside the highway on U.S. 310 about 10 miles south of Lovell. A deputy responded, and the car was stuck, but the occupants were able to free the vehicle and drive away.
10:08 p.m. – A caller reported that her son had hit a cow on U.S. 310 near Cowley. The Wyoming Highway Patrol was contacted and arrived to investigate the collision. The driver of the vehicle was not injured. A deputy put the remaining cows back into their pasture and checked on the cow that was struck.
November 20: 9:09 a.m. – A caller reported a vehicle parked in front of her house in Frannie. A deputy responded and the driver, who had been driving from Billings to Utah, had pulled over to rest. After making contact, the deputy discovered that the man was driving with a suspended license, and he was cited. The driver has ties to the area, so another party arrived to drive his car from the scene.
November 21: 2:54 p.m. – A caller reported that an orange Kia was driving erratically, the driver perhaps having difficulty staying awake. The car pulled into a driveway, but when a deputy responded the car had left.
November 22: 11:27 a.m. – A woman called to report that a white Chevy Colorado with 11 county plates was trying to run her off the road near Byron, slowing down and speeding up. While she was on the phone with dispatch, the vehicle turned onto Lane 13, so she said she was no longer in danger. A deputy responded and was unable to locate the vehicle.
5:51 p.m. – A caller reported coming upon a vehicle that had just hit a deer just south of Lovell on Wyoming Highway 32 and was badly damaged. The woman driving the vehicle was not injured. The Highway Patrol was notified.
November 23: 12:51 a.m. – A juvenile driver was returning home from Powell on U.S. 14A West and apparently fell asleep at the wheel, leading to a crash. No further details were available.
Following a traffic stop on U.S. 310 in the Cowley area, a man and wife were both arrested. Clarence Gordon Cliame was arrested for driving under the influence of a controlled substance, child restraint violations, child endangerment, improper registration and no seat belt in use. Tara Geneva Cliame was arrested for child endangerment, being under the influence of a controlled substance and no seat belt in use.
November 24: 12:44 p.m. – A woman in Byron called to report that she had received an apparent scam call from someone claiming to be the CEO of North Big Horn Hospital wanting her to buy VISA gift cards for deserving staff members. She hung up on the caller and checked with CEO Eric Connell, who agreed the call was, indeed, a scam.
Note: The above calls were received by the Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office. Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and charges made upon initial arrest may be amended or dismissed as determined by the County Attorney.
