The Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office received the following calls for the week of March 3-9:

March 4: 8:5 7 a.m. – Black cows were reported out of their pasture on U.S. Highway 14A West near Byron. The owner was alerted to the situation, but the cows got out again later that morning.

March 5: 9:58 a.m. – The North Big Horn County Search and Rescue squad was called regarding a male subject who had suffered a broken leg and dislocated hip in a snowmobile accident near High Country Lodge in the Big Horn Mountains. The squad responded and coordinated the response, with the subject, a resident of Montana, airlifted by a First Flight helicopter that landed in the parking lot of the Crystal Creek Rest Area.
8:25 p.m. – Deputies responded to a report of a domestic dispute on Road 5 near Byron, but when the officers arrived, the wife had already left the residence.
8:35 p.m. – A deer ran into the side of a deputy’s patrol truck as he was leaving the scene of the domestic call above. There was no damage to the truck.
March 6: 3:46 p.m. – A caller reported a Dodge traveling at a “very high rate of speed” and heading into Lovell from the west. There was not a deputy in position to respond, so the Wyoming Highway Patrol was notified.
4:14 p.m. – A caller reported that a number of her neighbor’s sheep were in her yard. She shooed them away but wanted to document the incident. The sheep returned later, and the owner said he would take care of it but was also informed that he could be cited for livestock at large.
7:07 p.m. – A deputy recognized the driver of a vehicle as someone wanted on an outstanding warrant in Big Horn County. The deputy pulled the car over and arrested Heather Louise Thomas on a warrant for failure to pay and also cited her for driving with a suspended license.
March 8: 7:21 a.m. – A pair of heeler dogs were reportedly chasing cars at Highway 32 and Lane 12 southwest of Lovell. A deputy responded but could see no dogs.
12:45 p.m. – A caller reported that her ex-fiance had left the house highly intoxicated and was worried that he might crash his vehicle. With the caller having no idea where the man was heading, the Wyoming Highway Patrol was also notified.
March 9: 4:01 p.m. – The driver in the above incident was reported as swerving into traffic and unable to maintain a lane of travel or a consistent speed. A deputy was unable to locate the vehicle, but the Lovell Police Department stopped the driver about 10 minutes later and made an arrest.
