Snowy February hits Lovell area
If the snowfall in February seems higher than average, it is, according to the National Weather Service.
The average snowfall in Lovell for the month of February is 2.9 inches, but according to Lance VandenBoogart, warning coordination meteorologist with the National Weather Service, Lovell has received much more snow than typical Februaries.
“This has been one of the snowiest Februaries in the Lovell area, receiving anywhere from 8 to 18 inches of snow,” VandenBoogart said. “This depends on where in northern Big Horn County you are located.”
VandenBoogart said the weather is expected to warm up a little, with a low chance of additional snow through the weekend.
“Over the next week, temperatures will be normal with highs ranging between 40 to 50 degrees,” VandenBoogart said. “There is a very low chance of additional snow through the weekend with another weather system impacting the area early next week.”
