Stephen Robert Stevens
March 25, 1942 – June 9, 2025
With full hearts and deep gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of Stephen Robert Stevens on June 9, 2025. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and faithful servant of the Lord, Stephen passed away peacefully at the age of 83.
Born March 25, 1942, in Lovell to Rebecca and Chester Stevens, Steve was the fifth of six children. His early years were spent in Cowley before the family settled in Lovell, where he spend the rest of his childhood. His life was shaped by faith, family and hard work from the beginning.
Steve served a full-time mission in the Australia Mission from March 1962 to March 1964, a time that profoundly influenced his testimony and service. Throughout his life, Steve accepted many callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with humiliity and dedication. These included roles in the bishopric, ward and stake clerk, Sunday school teacher, temple prep class, temple ordinance worker and baptistry coordinator in the baptistry and welfare specialist. He served faithfully, always ready to lift others with a calm word, quick wit and an unwavering sense of duty.
Steve attended Brigham Young University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting. It was during these formative college years that he met the love of his life, Linda Wilson. She had been “ward hopping” and happened to attend Steve’s church congregation – divine timing, as they would say. They married on August 18, 1965, and began a journey together that would span nearly six decades. Together, they raised four children, Candis, Shaun, Todd and Chris, in a home filled with laughter, learning, faith and love.
Steve’s devotion to his family was constant and unconditional. He was a provider in every sense, offering wisdom, safety and encouragement with quiet strength. He loved attending his grandchildren’s activities from ball games to cheer and dance competitions. He cheered them all on with love and excitement.
Professionally, Steve worked as a federal auditor and traveled throughout the States and the South Pacific. He lived a life of service to all those around him. Whether it was across the street or across the country he quietly went about doing good.
Those who knew Steve will remember his gentle presence, dry humor, abiding faith and deep sense of integrity. He was steady in storms, patient in challenges and endlessly supportive of those he loved.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Rebecca Stevens, sisters Roberta Isom and Judy Stacy and granddaughter Faith Hope Raabe.
Stephen is survived by his wife, Linda; children Candis (Brian) Raabe, Shaun (Angela) Stevens, Todd (Natalie) Stevens and Chris (Bobbie) Stevens; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchidren; sister Connie (Elden) Sanders: and twin brothers Stanley (MyrLene) Stevens and Wesley (Joan) Stevens.
A funeral service was held Saturday, June 14, at Price Hills Ward Chapel in St. George, Utah. Interment followed at Tonaquint Cemetery in St. George.
