Pink game fundraiser set for Stormy Jameson

A pink night volleyball fundraiser for longtime Lovell coach, mom and community leader Stormy Jameson will be held tonight, Thursday, Oct. 9, during the Lovell-Thermopolis volleyball matches at Winterholler Gym.

Jameson, who coached the Lady Bulldog volleyball team during two different stints as head coach, is battling cancer. She started experiencing symptoms in late May/early June and later was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. After a barrage of tests over several weeks, she started treatment last week.

The October 9 event is being called Storming Cancer with Stormy and will be held during the matches, which are scheduled for 4 (freshman), 5 (JV) and 6 p.m. and will feature a silent auction during the matches.

“Stormy Jameson has been a cornerstone of our community for many years,” a Facebook post on the event reads. “As a dedicated coach, mentor and friend, she has poured her heart into countless athletes and families. Stormy has touched the lives of so many in our town, and now, in her fight against breast cancer, we have the opportunity to rally around her with the love and support she has shared with so many.”

Those wishing to help are asked to donate baskets, gift cards, products or services for the silent auction. To do so, call Lilyan Edwards at 307-272-7948 or Tiffany Anderson at 307-248-1731. Storming Cancer with Stormy T-shirts will be sold at the game for $20 each.

A Stormy Jameson benefit account has been established at the Bank of Lovell, and a Venmo account for donations is also being created.

All funds raised will go to pay medical bills.

Jameson became the LHS head varsity volleyball coach in 2010 and coached the Lady Bulldogs to a second-place finish at State in 2011 and a state championship in 2012, stepping down about three years later. She returned to the team in 2021 and coached three more years.

Professionally, Jameson worked as the advertising manager at the Lovell Chronicle from 2011 until 2013, then served as the director of Lovell Inc. economic development for several years before returning to the Chronicle as ad manager in 2023, adding duties as the lead reporter this spring.

Stormy and Michael Jameson have four children: Kobi, 13, Jace, 12, Kali, 9, and Jett, 3.
